29. Breaking prejudices and gaining friends
(5)
The carriages left early the next day.
Hundreds of tons of grain in the warehouse were divided into 40 large wagons and began to move along the pipeline.
There was still several times as much grain left in the warehouse.
While the carriage was moving, Legion Helios thoroughly scouted the surroundings and prepared for any possible danger.
Although I had only been with Zeke for a day and a half, Legion Helios had become a completely different unit.
It was as if courage was contagious.
The distance from Gelan Village to Joryx Castle could be reached in an hour or two, even with a heavily loaded wagon.
Even including unloading time, half a day was enough, so we loaded grain once more in the afternoon.
For five days, Legion Helios was able to complete its mission.
Of course, Zeke and Deus Yulgeum were also there.
On the sixth day, Terjan took his troops and left for Poms Castle.
Before leaving, he talked to Zeke for quite some time.
Deus watched from afar and spoke to Zeke after he left.
“When did you become so close?”
“ah! He’s a nicer person than he looks. “We decided to be friends.”
“What is this all of a sudden? Plus, I was wearing a ring that I hadn’t seen in a few days. What was it
? “I can feel the magic.”
“Mr. Terryan gave it to me. “As a proof that I will help Legion Helios in the future when its power is needed.”
“Are you two dating?”
“no!”
“She likes men?”
“It’s not like that!”
“It’s a route I wouldn’t really recommend. “Well, if that’s your preference, I can’t help it.”
“Lord Deus!”
“Anyway, settle the account. “How much do you have left after this incident?”
“For 50 gold coins, which is half of the commission, I agreed to return to Poms Castle and sell the by-products obtained from the monsters to receive payment.”
“50 gold coins? “Well, it’s not bad for a week’s worth.”
“It’s not that bad.”
“They must have suffered some losses. “More than 200 people died.”
“More than anything, it breaks my heart that so many people have died.”
While talking about this, Deus and Zeke Yulgeum headed to Deus’ restaurant.
The hall was full of guests.
“Go, all-round part-time worker.” Deus pushed Zeke’s back.
“four!”
Yulgeum said a word while looking at the back of the warrior running energetically.
“At some point, it feels like Zeke is at the center of this party. “Not from you, Mr. Demon King.”
“doesn’t care. “Because that’s what I really want.”
He walked leisurely and sat down on a chair in front of the store.
Leaning on the rocking chair, he
looked up at the rhythm.
“How about you? “I feel like I’m living on the margins of the world.”
“well. Because I was born that way. “I will live like that again and die like that again.”
“Are you like that too?”
“You too…?”
“What are we? People around me?”
Yulgeum was unable to answer what Deus asked.
“While Deus was away, the average daily sales exceeded 2 gold coins
.”
“Is it going well? “I have no inspiration.”
“The net profit is 30%, or about 7 silver coins. One month is equivalent to 21 gold coins. “It’s going incredibly well.”
Deus shrugged his shoulders at Butler Skatul’s explanation.
“I went out for five days and earned over 50 gold coins?”
“Isn’t the object of comparison wrong? “It’s a D-class request and a hastily built restaurant in a collapsed castle.”
“Well, if that’s the case with the butler, that’s what I’ll do. “ Then, I’ll leave the restaurant to the butler
and the rest will head to Horse’s X-hole tomorrow.”
Skathul asked back.
“What is that… a devil’s whisper?”
“that’s right.”
“Are you thinking of going to the village of short charcoal workers? “I have no contact with that place at all right now.”
“So I’m going to go see it. “I have a request to make.”
“Have you stopped thinking without thinking?”
“Not a weapon, but to make new equipment for Zeke.”
” Me?”
When Zeke asked in surprise, Deus nodded and said.
“I’m going to make a wok.”
“Was that joke serious?”
“Of course I’m serious. If you need anything other than a wok, think about it. “Let’s try the full set.”
Scatul scratched his head.
“Is it a full set?”
“Isn’t it common sense? “Because I had a full set of armor.”
“Have you made the helmet yet?”
“That’s enough. “If you cover your face, it will hinder your ability to gain fame.”
“Does something like defense matter?”
“Defense should be done with aura. “What power can an iron plate have?”
Skatul couldn’t find anything more to say due to Deus’ proud nonsense.
The next day, quite early, the carriage departed from Joryx Castle.
Although it had only been a month since the castle was regained, Joryx Castle was giving off the smell of life.
This liveliness may be the best human trait.
The broken walls were repaired and the buildings returned to their original appearance.
Although monsters still frequently appeared and the restoration of farmland was delayed, farmers organized a vigilante group and borrowed soldiers from the lord to expand the land little by little.
Thanks to Scatul’s absence, the coachman’s seat was once again occupied by Zeke.
Next to him sat his squire Nezar, and in the servant’s seat behind him stood Lich King Sadi Mus and Mandarake Raque.
“It’s not the Pot Expedition, it’s me.”
Nezar grumbled.
Zeke next to me said with a smile.
“It’s really weird, isn’t it?”
“It would be better if you supported me in making the Almighty Bracelet. “If you have the Almighty Bracelet, metal smelting is no problem.”
Deus spoke through the window leading to the coach seat.
“Who believes you? Almighty Bracelet? “It’s obvious that after making it, you’ll kill your master Zeke and turn on me, right?”
“It doesn’t matter whether they believe it or not, right? “Master Zeke will trust you.”
“Just match it now.”
“Just because it’s my master’s employer doesn’t mean it’s my employer.”
“But why does that bastard have such a desire to die today? “If I want to search, I will jump with the knife in my mouth.”
“This body is a high-level human being, so the sword is inviolable.”
“Zeke.”
“Yes, Deus.”
“I need that bastard back. “Sell it for 2 gold.”
“Yes..
Nezar
looked at Deus in surprise.
“Trading humans!”
“What kind of person is this slave?”
“ah! “What a barbaric civilization!”
Through his life, Nezar learned that the current level of civilization is far behind when he lived.
Humans were extremely weak and could not be compared to the Golden Age.
A previously extinct infectious disease spread, and most of the children died from the disease.
In short, he had been completely deceived by Deus.
“The short charcoal people must have messed up the country too, right?”
Zeke shifted the conversation.
“Are you okay, Mr. Kielce?”
“Who is Kielce?”
“He is the leader of the Southern Root Knights. “When I visited the Southern Root Kingdom a long time ago, I was indebted to you in many ways.”
“Is that so?”
“I did. Anyway, Deus-sama, it seems that all but a certain number of people forget everything.”
“Because I’m not interested.
The words were so cold that Zeke
closed his mouth.
Yulgeum tapped Deus’ side.
“Anyway, he’s a sociable guy.”
However, Yulgeum burst out laughing when he remembered that being sociable was not at all suited to his job as a demon king.
The carriage ran along that road without stopping for ten days and arrived at the area of the devil’s whispers.
And there, the group had to face an absurd reality.
“Is this right here?”
Where Deus beckoned, all that was there was a huge ocean.
The geyser pillars rising like chimneys were not visible.
“The entire entrance was blown away.”
Deus created a hand awning and looked around.
I looked into the distance, but there was no special scenery.
There is only a sea with waves following the gentle wind.
“It’s not just the entrance that’s the problem… Even the road leading to Horsetail has disappeared
?”
Yulgeum said as he landed on the ground.
She climbed to a high place to check on the situation. The scenery seen from up close to the clouds was even more absurd.
“It looks like tens of kilometers of land nearby has sunk into the sea.”
“Is that possible?”
When Deus asked back, Yulgeum shrugged his shoulders.
“The crust may have become unstable after the volcano erupted. In the first place, the three continents of Hor are disk-shaped continents floating in the air. “Stability is low.”
“So you’re saying it’s impossible to go to those short charcoal guys after all?”
“For now. There is no other way, but…
“Where is it?”
“The roar of an angel.”
“That’s the horse’s chair…
“Stop! “Mouth, mouth.”
“I thought it was close, but
it’s completely opposite.”
Deus scratched his head and continued.
“We’re going all the way to the other side of the continent to make a wok.”
“That’s not the problem now, is it?”
Zeke joined the conversation between the two.
“Something might have happened to the land of fairies. “Shouldn’t we talk to Deacon Scatul?”
Horsetail was the land of fairies.
Since the narrow land connecting the continent and Horsetail collapsed and turned into the sea, there was no guarantee that their home would be safe.
“If anything happens, they will take care of it. “It’s not too late to help after asking for help
.”
“help.”
Then I heard a groan.
Deus’s expression distorted and Yulgeum smiled.
While he was glaring at Yulgeum, Zeke ran to where the voice was heard.
The owner of the voice was a woman.
He was clinging precariously to a protruding rock on the deep shore where the waves were rolling.
Her lips were blue, as if she was already exhausted.
Zeke immediately jumped into the water. I had no hesitation about saving her
.
But the water was deeper than I thought.
I jumped in without hesitation, thinking I was going to save someone, but my body was already submerged into the water with the second step.
I forced my hands and feet to wave.
I took a few steps forward. I held my breath and kicked rocks in the sea to create momentum.
The waves crashed in and the water turned over. Zeke’s body also fell.
“That idiot.”
On the shore, Deus
gave a short review of his thoughts.
“What are you doing, you slave? “Your master fell into the water.”
“I can’t swim either.”
“Then he was buried?”
Deus kicked Nezar’s ass. He was drenched, sighed with an irritated look on his face, and slithered into the water.
“Only seals are completely unable to swim.”
Deus squatted on a rock and looked into the water.
The woman hanging on the rock
looked at Deus with a pitiful expression and said,
“Please don’t…
” “Boss me.” Lake, rescue that woman and bring her here.”
“yes.”
When Lakhe stretched out his hand, dozens of vines sprouted from his sleeve.
Just as the vines were about to entangle the woman and land her on the shore, Nezar also came to Zeke’s rescue.
Zeke spits out water and a woman faints from exhaustion.
Looking at the two, Deus spoke again.
“Who saved whom?”
The best thing about having a latke was that there was no need for the firewood to fall.
Zeke sat in front of the bonfire and dried his wet body.
Sadimus, one of his teachers, said something to him.
“If I had used magic, I wouldn’t have passed out in the water.”
“ah! “I suddenly fell into the water… I didn’t think about it.”
“Tsk tsk, you need to be more flexible.”
“sorry.”
Zeke bowed his head. As he raised his head, out of the corner of his eye, he saw a woman who had fainted.
