“That’s not a bad idea! I’ll pay 3 million!” Bucky chimed in.
Like Aurelia he also did not see Hugh as a threat.
The jadeite was quite valuable yet Hugh was willing to spend a fortune on it.
Since they mistook Leon as Renee’s boyfriend and that was later confirmed by the fact that Renee was
out shopping with him early in the morning he assumed that Leon was purchasing the jadeite as a gift
for Renee.
Bucky was in love with Renee so he refused to let Leon get his way.
“You want to bid against me? That’s interesting. I’ll pay 4 million then!” Leon scoffed.
Considering how profitable Cynthion Group and Elegante Group were he was not in short of money as
the chairman of both firms.
Since Aurelia and Bucky dared to bid against him to make him give up they would have to learn the
reality as he did not fear them.
“I’ll go for 5 million then!” Bucky sneered and raised the price without hesitation.
“7 million!” Leon said calmly.
“Why you!” Bucky and Aurelia both paled.
They thought that Leon would caved once they raised the price and he would give up on bidding.
To their surprise Leon dared to raise the price to 7 million without hesitation.
This caught them by surprise. However they refused to back down as a few million did not mean much
to people from their backgrounds.
There was no way that they would admit defeat.
“9 million!” Bucky said darkly no longer as composed.
The selling price of the jadeite was merely a little over 1.5 million and it was hardly worth 9 million.
It pained him slightly to pay so much for something not worthy of the value.
“I will!” Leon was about to raise the price when Renee pulled his arm.
“Hugh forget it. This piece of jadeite isn’t worth that much. Stop bidding. If they want it so badly let
them have it! We can just buy another one!” Renee said.
Leon already mentioned that he was purchasing jadeites to produce alchemical pills. This would only
require jadeites of good quality and craftmanship should not matter.
If Leon continued to bid he would only be wasting money so he might as well purchase another piece.
“Well that’s true!” Realization dawned on Leon and he regained his composure.
Due to Aurelia’s unreasonable attitude he was overwhelmed by anger and prompted to bid.
However Renee’s words brought him back to his senses.
Though he was not short of money spending it foolishly should not be an option.
The jadeite was only worth a little over 1.5 million and it would be foolish of him if he continued to bid
only to purchase it at a much higher price.
Since Bucky and Aurelia insisted on acting recklessly he had no reason to compete with them.
