Helmut Episode

44 Chapter

3 The journey, incident, and meeting

started from there.

Three days after parting ways with the Faith mercenaries, Helmut stopped by a village.

I thought I had enough money, so I was about to give up living on the streets and rest comfortably at an inn. Even though the bedding was hard, it was incomparably more comfortable than Helmut’s previous bed.

Along with food, it was one of the few luxuries Helmut enjoyed in the human world.

Helmut entered the inn restaurant to eat dinner. For some reason, it seemed like there weren’t many people in the restaurant, but on one side, six particularly tough-looking men were taking up seats.

‘Are you a mercenary?’

I don’t know that, but they are the ones who handle swords anyway. A sword strapped to his waist with developed muscles and blistered grip.

They had been drinking since early evening and even at first glance seemed like a rough bunch.

Helmut stopped paying attention and looked at the menu. You wouldn’t know it by looking at the menu anyway. I pointed out what was listed as a recommended menu and ordered a beer.

The waiter seemed to sense that the atmosphere at the table over there was unusual and served the food with a keen eye for attention.

Helmut took out his sword and cleaned it. A famous sword does not spoil easily, but it must be maintained regularly.

I remembered that Darian was cleaning this sword every day, so I bought an oiled cloth from the blacksmith shop.

But it seems that the appearance was noticed by those on the other side. Two of them, who were talking and laughing among themselves, approached Helmut.

“The kid over there has a good sword?”

“Give it to me once.”

“Nope.”

It was a sharp rejection. The faces of both men turned red at the same time.

One person with a dumbfounded expression slammed his palm on the table.

bang! The wooden table creaked as if there had been an earthquake.

“Does this bastard not understand?”

“Can’t you hear me telling you to give it up?”

‘This is what a fight is all about.’

It’s an unnecessary show of force. Even if you say you’re going to scare me, I’m not scared. Helmut, with an expressionless face, spoke indifferently.

“I said no, but did your ears get clogged?”

“No, this bastard, but!”

A vicious hand tried to grab Helmut’s collar.

But something grabbed my wrist. Helmut grabbed her wrist and lightly stopped her.

“under! this.”

The man tried to pull his hand away. But when he stopped moving, his complexion changed. He exerted so much force that his muscles bulged.

But his hand didn’t move. Just like being stuck between rocks.

‘What is this!’

Another man, sensing that the situation was strange, punched Helmut.

“You bastard, won’t you let go of that hand?”

Helmut, who was unconsciously pulling out his sword, stopped for a split second.

‘You shouldn’t commit murder in the village, right?’

If you do that, it can be a pain in the ass. A mercenary certificate guarantees your identity, but that doesn’t mean you can commit murder.

Helmut pulled his grasped wrist forcefully to the side. As soon as he let go of his hand, the man’s body lost balance and caught his colleague’s fist.

puck! The man who stumbled and fell onto the table next to him screamed.

“Where are you hitting? “It hurts!”

“No, I took a swing at that bastard….”

One of the men hesitated and glared at Helmut. But I couldn’t bear to attack him.

They seemed to have sensed something strange on the other side as well, so they stood up in a hurry.

Helmut shifted his gaze and looked between that and this group. And then he spit it out at the people in front of him.

“go away.”

The black eyes flashed pitch black. The deadly weapon filled with Vis was violently exploded in an instant.

Any living being would instinctively feel fear upon seeing those eyes.

The men hesitatingly retreated and ran towards their comrades. The remaining four all had their hands on the swords at their waists. However, it was an atmosphere that made it impossible to rush in.

Helmut didn’t care how they reacted and put the polished sword on his belt.

‘The order is late.’

When I looked up, I saw an employee frozen in the corner holding a beer glass.

“What about food?”

The employee who rushed over quickly put down the beer glass in front of him and said.

“It’ll be out soon.”

It doesn’t look like they have any intention of starting a fight right now. Helmut glanced at the rugged men and withdrew his gaze. The plan was to enjoy a leisurely meal.

*

Wherever you go in the world, there are rogue groups that show off their power. In the outskirts where security was neglected, such people became more prevalent.

The situation in the Kingdom of Kinen was chaotic, with two different princes fighting over succession rights. Because of this, public security did not reach these places.

Although they have never been officially registered in the mercenary guild, they are people who use swords. Low-class thugs who make a living by plundering others. They were troublesome people because they were secretly connected to thieves, dark organizations, nobles, or merchants.

They fulfilled their interests by exploiting merchants and small villages that were not in a position to hire formal mercenaries.

They also, if possible, did not argue with official mercenaries. This is because it is difficult to deal with mercenary guilds or mercenary groups.

However, if the other person is a fourteen-year-old boy, it is a different story. A good sword that contrasts with the shabby clothes. Not a well-trained physique, but a handsome appearance that appears to belong to a noble family.

Unlike the mercenaries whose skin was rough and disorganized, a boy with a face as white as snow was likely to be thought of as a shabby noble boy walking around dressed up.

After Helmut disappeared into the room, the reluctant employee was surrounded by rude customers and was being harassed.

“Is that guy really a mercenary?”

“Yes, I’m sure. “I showed my mercenary certificate when I got the room.”

“A third-level mercenary?”

“yes yes.”

It was natural that the employees at a country inn like this did not know much about the mercenary world.

So the employee did not notice that Helmut belonged to the ‘Face Mercenaries’.

If I had remembered that, things would have been different. The mere fact that a person belongs to a highly reputed mercenary group proves that he or she is not an ordinary third-level mercenary.

“What the fuck, if you’re a level 3 mercenary! “He’s such a brat.”

“That bastard’s eyes were scary?”

“Those eyes must have gone crazy by now. “That bastard drank five beers too.”

“It’s when you get so drunk that you feel light-headed and your eyes close.”

“Okay, I’ll fall asleep soundly in a little while.”

“You can’t even open your eyes?”

Meaningful glances were exchanged between the six men. The lower the quality, the more persistent they were in doing bad things.

No one had the intention of risking the humiliation of leaving like this. I think it would be refreshing to have the face that was glaring at me smugly kneel at my feet.

You will feel relieved if you throw away everything you have and let them run away crying.

A man gestured to an employee.

“Hey man, do you have a spare key? “Bring it.”

“That is.”

Not only would it be a bad idea to tell a guest’s room, but it would also be a no-brainer to hand over the key.

However, when I see a fist as big as a stone moving back and forth in front of me, I have no desire to resist.

“This bastard? “Aren’t you going to move quickly?”

“Do you want to suffer once in your life by working at a small inn?”

A close fist is more scary than a distant law. In the end, the employee took the key and held it out with a scared look on his face.

After a couple of hours, the men made their move. With the waiter leading the way, I made no noise and walked up the stairs and stood in front of the door. He intimidated the employee while keeping his voice quiet.

“Open the door quickly! “You bastard.”

The plan was to use the employees as shields if anyone noticed from inside. The employee, who was in tears, opened the door with the key.

Sweet. The door opened with a subtle sound. The room with the curtains down was so dark that it was difficult to see inside.

The employee fell backwards. A man grabbed the employee by the back as he tried to run away.

“Where are you going, just stay here!”

If you bring someone over, you’ll be in trouble. Meanwhile, the rest were crammed into the narrow room in a row.

The leading man holding a club struck the bed with all his might and without mercy. puck! It was so strong that if it hit anywhere properly, it would break bones.

“no?”

The texture was strange. The sensation of hitting an empty bed covered with a blanket.

At that time, the door closed behind me. It rattled. The light coming through the open door disappeared, leaving complete darkness.

Five men were isolated in such a small room.

“What is this!”

“Where is this bastard!”

“You rat! “Hurry and catch it!”

The men shouted, waving their hands indiscriminately in the darkness. But the only thing that was in their hands was each other’s bodies.

A small new figure began to move in the darkness. Perfect! Perfect! Ta-dak! A terrible pain, as if being hit by an iron bar, hit every part of the men’s bodies.

I drool and bend over due to the pain stabbing my solar plexus. There was pain in the leg that felt like it was broken.

The men screamed, waving their hands in the air without even knowing who was hitting them.

“Ahh! where are you!”

“Open the window!”

Someone had pulled back the curtains and tried to block the view with the light from outside. But even sooner than that he saw something.

It was like I saw a flash of light in the dark. Murderous intent reflected in pitch-black pupils that seemed to devour darkness.

Wow! The body that had climbed through the window fell down along with the curtain.

The heavy noise of body hitting the floor rang out. thud! More than one bone must have been broken.

Outside light leaked in through the broken window and illuminated the scene in the room. The place was completely littered with people fainting or collapsing and groaning.

Helmut looked at the scene with an expressionless face.

“Ugh.”

Helmut stomped on her wrist, which was groaning and scratching the floor.

The moan immediately turned into a scream and hit my eardrums. As soon as I kicked the screaming jaw, it quieted down.

Helmut was not in a good mood. An uninvited guest burst into the car while trying to relax for the first time in a long time because he liked the soft bedding.

How should I treat you?

The answer came quickly. It wasn’t even someone who would draw a sword.

Helmut, who was familiar with the dark, could clearly see their movements. It was a natural order to control the murderous intent and strike with the sheath of the sword.

After making the awake guy suffer until he passed out, I came out and saw a white-faced employee standing in front of the room. As soon as he saw Helmut, he screamed.

“So customer, run away!”

Helmut asked, raising one eyebrow.

“Why am I running away?”

Is there any reason to run away from these weak guys?

“Those guys are from the Black Hawks. Since the person holding me ran away, I’m sure he’ll bring his comrades with him! “We have to leave town quickly!”

Helmut tilted his head.

“What is Black Hawk?”

“That group of thieves who are said to be taking over that underworld! The authors also belong there. “They’re going to bring their gang and come for revenge!”

“….”

Helmut thought for a moment. If we take out that gang, will more and more people at the top come? Are stronger people coming?

‘That’s kind of interesting.’

“They are incredibly persistent! “If we don’t run away quickly, our inn will be devastated.”

In the end, the employee who confessed his true feelings ended up hitting his head. It was dizzying to even think about the situation in which a gang of thieves invaded the inn.

Why should he, who works at an inn, have to suffer like this just because a shrimp’s back explodes in a whale fight?

He was resentful of the owner, who disappeared immediately after the men appeared, saying he had left the inn in charge of him.

‘It’s going to be a hassle.’

Actually, it didn’t matter what happened to the inn, but Helmut decided to leave.

It’s not because being chased is a threat. It’s just difficult to get attention for something like this. Because I have a place to go.

“Okay, leave.”

Helmut went to one side of the room and gathered his luggage. He pointed to those who had fallen and said:

“Please leave the hotel expenses to the authors.”

A comfortable night was gone. Helmut decided to turn a blind eye to the mistake of the waiter who had escorted the men to their rooms.

It was the fate of the weak to submit to the threats of the strong.
