Helmut

Episode 31

But this was reality. Helmut’s head tilted crookedly. He spat out with cold eyes.

“I don’t want to take your pants off, so get on your knees and beg and I’ll let you go like this.”

It was a casual tone, but it sounded mocking.

It may not be cool to embarrass someone by hanging him naked upside down near the campsite, but we must be merciful to the weak. This was Darian’s teaching.

Helmut crossed his arms and stared at Kelop. Something like asking for help.

“This…”

This is nonsense. He was only a fourteen-year-old boy. There was no way a level 4 mercenary could do this to him.

The guy was laughing at Kelop with an expressionless face.

Naturally, he couldn’t accept it. My pride wouldn’t allow it. Sometimes pride destroys our sense of reality.

“Who would want to pray to someone like you!”

Kelop jumped up and hit Helmut on the head. Helmut easily turned to the side to avoid it.

“Aaaah!”

Kelob screamed and drew his sword. In terms of strength, he was one of the best in Tariq’s mercenary group.

The sword Kelop swung cut through the air, making a terrifying sound.

“You just kicked your last chance.”

Helmut calmly drew his sword.

A person without proper skills. Since I haven’t been training lately, my body is already quite dull. One of his arms was broken and his balance was off.

It is simple to avoid the sword that is thrown recklessly. Helmut snuggled into his arms and swung his sword at his ankles.

Suddenly! It was as sharp as a famous sword. Helmut’s sword cut through Kelop’s leg without friction. Blood spurted out like a fountain because a blood vessel had been touched.

“Ugh!”

Just as Kelop was staggering, Helmut passed by him and stabbed him again from behind.

Blood also flowed from the other leg where the tip of the sword penetrated. As bipeds, humans lose the ability to move when their legs are injured.

dump! Kelob stumbled and fell to the floor. Helmut’s movements were as fast as the wind. I couldn’t even read it properly, let alone deal with it.

Fear flashed in Kelob’s eyes. Helmut, trotting towards the fallen man, looked like a reaper.

Helmut gripped the handle of his sword tightly. When I saw blood, a ferocious impulse boiled within my body.

The patience so far is spreading out of control, as if it has turned into murderous intent. I want to kill him by tearing him apart until his body is covered in blood.

Kill it! Even if he dies anyway, no one will know!

An evil, fierce cry echoing within me.

‘This.’

But Helmut stopped standing tall. I came to my senses. The will of darkness that dominates reason. This feeling that sucks you in so powerfully that it feels unnatural.

Helmut knew the identity of this. sprout of darkness. What seemed to have disappeared after passing through the barrier was the small being coiled inside the heart, swelling its body in response to Helmut’s murderous intent.

‘You must not lose yourself!’

Darian’s last words hit me on the head. Kelop tried to kill Helmut. Helmut killing him is not slaughter. The right thing to do.

However, it should not be done with murderous intent.

Helmut suddenly realized that his breathing had become rough. He took a breath and calmed himself.

‘You cannot dominate me.’

Helmut declared towards the sprout of darkness, raised Vis and drove it into the heart.

The slightly increased volume was annoying. Are you living off of negative emotions?

It seemed like the magic energy that resided in this forest had an influence in bringing out the sprouts of darkness.

‘Darian told me to stay away from Magi.’

Once this request was over, I would have to keep my word.

Only after the whole process was over did Helmut realize that Kelop’s place was empty.

While he was stopping, Kelob was running away towards the camp.

‘There’s all kinds of crazy things! ‘That’s not a human!’

No matter how dark it is, he, a level 3 mercenary, can’t even see his movements properly!

It was faster than the movements of my brother, a second-class mercenary. This is not a move that is possible for a fourteen-year-old boy.

Blood was flowing from his legs, but Kelop, paralyzed with fear, felt nothing.

He was running away using only his survival instinct. The will to survive moved his legs.

As the camp got closer, hope returned to Kelop. Kelop ran frantically, not even noticing that he suddenly stopped hearing the sound of grasshoppers.

‘We’re almost there. ‘If you scream over there!’

Helmut belatedly began to pursue Kelop.

A hunter’s instinct is to chase down fleeing prey and plunge an arrow into its neck.

However, the moment the hunter discovered the back, something huge came out of thin air and attacked the prey.

It seemed as if night had covered night. Kelop felt as if he had gone blind, his vision darkening to pitch black.

‘what?’

Kwasik! Eternal darkness descended. Kelop died without even being able to scream.

Helmut’s steps stopped. His eyes were looking straight into the darkness.

‘It’s him.’

This dark magic. Just as expected, the guy appeared again. A familiar figure emerged from the darkness, turning away from the light of the campfire. Giant monkey.

Red eyes flashed in the darkness. The guy pushed his claws into the back of the person I was sitting on.

Pop! The nails broke through the muscles and spine and reached their target.

The guy who had just taken out a fresh heart from a dead human ate it with satisfaction.

“That’s mine.”

Helmut stopped and spoke. It was a surprisingly calm voice.

The purple-faced monkey rolled his heart in his hand and tilted his head.

-Keeee?

“You’ve just stolen something from me.”

Helmut spoke clearly once again. His eyes were more sunken than usual.

Helmut was a little angry. I couldn’t even express my anger properly. Isn’t this a too comfortable death for Kelop to face?

thud! thud! The monkey holding Kelop’s heart approached Helmut one step at a time.

The guy who stopped about ten steps away chewed and swallowed a piece of dried meat, making a chomping noise. It seems like he’s trying to increase his medication.

“I can understand what you’re saying.”

Helmut was sure. This monkey-shaped monster has high intelligence.

Although he may not be able to speak, if a highly intelligent person develops his magic, he may be able to understand what is said.

Most humans didn’t think it was possible to communicate with monsters.

But Helmut was different. Because he grew up in the Forest of Pahe, where it’s not strange for monsters to talk.

-Keeeeee.

The monkey monster looked at Helmut as if observing him. He was a small human compared to his body.

The flesh is soft and the bones are thin, so if you put it in your mouth, it will chew smoothly.

I don’t like the fact that I see myself as a human subject and don’t tremble like other humans.

Plus, it’s a bit strange. Although he was human, he felt vaguely like a monster.

“If you attack me, you will die.”

Helmut spoke briefly. Monsters know how to compare the strength of their opponents.

Helmut made eye contact with the bastard and revealed his Vis, which was mixed with faint magical energy.

Gray vis covered Helmut’s body in a hazy manner, in the same way that a monster spews out magical energy.

The guy who felt the formidable shock bristled his fur. He let out a scream filled with demonic energy as if threatening.

-Keeeeeeek!

Helmut said as if it were pathetic.

“If I scream like that, humans will wake up, right?”

In fact, there was a commotion in the campground. A rustling sound was followed by a clanking sound. It seemed like everyone woke up and picked up their swords.

The quiet atmosphere was tense with tension. Helmut pointed his finger toward Kelop’s corpse.

“I’ll give it to you, so take that body with you.”

It doesn’t matter that I got pierced in the back, but the sword wound on my leg is a problem. The plan was to kill it and bury it or get rid of it, but it worked out.

is not it?

‘It’s a shame I couldn’t finish it with my own hands.’

My heart is shaking. The hand went back to the sword.

Should I kill this monkey monster and prove my skills? How much will Butan Trading Company increase your salary?

I was a little worried.

However, there was something about Tanya’s reaction earlier that caught me off guard. It is not possible to clearly discern whether this is a situation where it is okay to reveal his strength.

Humans who had woken up were armed and approaching the direction from which the cries were heard.

The monster is in a situation where he has to deal with humans alone without any subordinates. You have to decide quickly. Should I kill him and run away, or should I just run away?

The guy hesitated. The unusual vis he felt from Helmut confused him.

The faint magical energy that Vis felt was so strong that it could not be underestimated.

But what’s in front of you is a human? Humans are food. That’s the instinct engraved into the monster.

An ordinary monster would not have been able to see that the human in front of him was strong and would have followed his instincts, but his high intelligence held him back.

We decided that we should not attack like this. But the one in front is an immature human.

That guy had too much pride to just run away. Pride, intelligence, and instinct clashed dizzyingly.

Meanwhile, the mercenaries with torches in their hands were getting closer.

The guy who was alternately looking sideways at the people and at Helmut eventually moved.

-Keeeeee.

As if to say, “Let’s wait and see,” the guy who made the noise threw himself away.

Not forgetting, the one carrying Kelob’s body jumped up and disappeared up the tree.

Helmut sighed. I felt half glad and half sad.

He was left alone.

Helmut tried to organize in his head how to explain this situation.

As he walked toward the camp, someone spotted him on the other side and shouted.

“Who is there!”

“Who is it? “Is it a person?”

“It’s me.”

Helmut raised his hand. The Face Mercenaries recognized his voice and quickly approached him.

“Helmut?”

Helmut’s face, illuminated by moonlight in the dark, looked so pale that it was so white. As if something almost happened.

“Why are you here?”

“Let’s go to the campsite and talk.”

Füen held Helmut’s shoulder and led him. Helmut returned to the camp surrounded by the Faith mercenaries.

Miles was waiting at the campground with a serious look on his face. Helmut was led in front of Miles.

Others will conduct a search of the surrounding area.

Helmut, who stood among the mercenaries with blood-stoned faces, faced Miles. The wrinkles on his forehead seemed to indicate his anxiety.

It was a place where two second-level mercenaries from Tariq’s mercenary group, Puen and Tanya, were together. Questions were asked as if interrogating.

“Explain what happened.”

“Why were you in that place?”

“You know you shouldn’t leave the camp without permission.”

Helmut responded calmly.

“I was going to have a bowel movement. “I thought it would stink, so I tried to go a little further away.”

Only then did they seem to understand, but their expressions were shocked. Only Tanya spoke as if criticizing him.

“But there was an attack earlier and it was careless! “I should have told someone.”

“Tanya, now is not the time to argue.”

When Puen intervened, Miles threw up his hand.

“Okay, keep going.”

“As I was walking away from the camp, I realized someone was following me. “It was Kelop.”

“Kellop?”

The two second-level mercenaries of Tariq’s mercenary group looked at each other. Now that I think about it, I realized that Kelob was nowhere to be seen.

“That bastard still hasn’t come to his senses!”

Tanya suddenly got angry. The response from listeners was good. Maybe you have a knack for piecing together stories?

Helmut continued speaking seriously.

“They tried to catch me, so I ran away. Then, as we got further away from the camp, the monster we saw earlier suddenly appeared. That big guy from earlier. “He followed me here.”

There was tension on everyone’s faces. This is the guy who killed two third-level mercenaries. Vigilance was heightened.

“It probably thought Kelop was more appetizing than me, so it attacked Kelop. And when the people woke up, it ran away with Kelob in its mouth. That was the end.”
