Helmut

Episode 258

The surrounding area was lonely and quiet. This is where rare peace is found in the forest of Pahe.

There was no monster in this area who did not know that Helmut was under the protection of Elaga. Therefore, there is no chance of being attacked.

It was a familiar day to Helmut, but that day was different. I felt a subtle presence next to Elaga, who was strolling over to me.

Helmut moved his head. Two humans were standing next to Elaga. One is a woman and the other is a small girl.

Elaga exhaled triumphantly.

[Try to have a conversation with other human beings.]

“Hello, am I?”

“Hello… yo?”

[That guy’s name is Helmut. The bigger one is Susan. The smaller one is Sarah.]

Helmut quietly looked at the woman and girl who spoke cautiously.

There was one reason he reacted. This is the forest of Pahe. Because it was not an environment in which the weak humans in front of us could survive. I had an idea who they might be.

‘Naho’s… was it a livestock?’

A young girl ran up to Helmut and asked.

“I’m Sarah. “Why is Helmut lying in that place?”

‘Is this Elaga’s new hobby?’

It grumbled and seemed to have fun taking care of humans. Helmut’s interest ended there.

Helmut stopped looking at them and closed his eyes again.

Black hair and black eyes. Even though his appearance was incomparably more beautiful than the monsters in the Forest of Pahe, Helmut somehow exuded a sense of intimidation. A boy with a dry and cold atmosphere.

I heard that Elaga raised it, but it doesn’t feel familiar at all. It is difficult for a boy growing up in the forest of Pahe to be ordinary.

The woman hesitated, unable to speak. Sarah, a girl who had grown less tactful than her, bravely raised her head towards Helmut.

This is because Elaga gave permission to bother Helmut as much as she wanted, regardless of the parties’ wishes.

“Helmut, doesn’t your back hurt when you lie down like that?”

“Where did Helmut come from? “Where were you born?”

“Helmut Helmut Helmut!”

Helmut couldn’t help but react to her incessant babbling.

“Don’t bother.”

Although the words were short, there was even ferocity in the way the words were cut off at once.

The girl’s face immediately distorted as she flinched. and

“Ugh!”

A loud cry tore my eardrums.

Helmut pulled up the vis and blocked his hearing.

I can’t believe this is the first time I’ve used a visa since things started like this.

‘Elaga.’

Doing useless things I told you to leave me alone. They don’t respect their own opinions at all.

Of course, Elaga deserved it. Elaga is an indifferent leopard and the ruler of this area. And Elaga was still acting like Helmut’s protector.

“Three years. don’t cry.”

Susan hugged her daughter and comforted her. Elaga frowned, looked back and forth between Sera and Helmut, and then blurted out.

[She got angry at the sight of a child crying.]

As everyone admits, that was not something Elaga would say.

Sarah soon stopped crying. However, he did not leave Susan’s arms and remained tightly hugged. There was no mood for conversation at all.

Elaga, who thumped her tail on the floor in displeasure, nudged them with her tail.

[Come back tomorrow.]

Helmut did not answer. Helmut’s answer wouldn’t have mattered anyway.

The problem is that Elaga really kept his word.

He visited Helmut again the next day, taking the two human women with him.

This time, Susan brought a basket full of food she had cooked herself.

There is also bread that shows how the ingredients were obtained and baked. It is a food that is difficult to find in Pahe Forest.

However, even in the face of the delicious-smelling food, Helmut did not move at all.

Helmut has tasted all kinds of delicacies in the outside world. Also, some people say that they fill the emptiness in their hearts with a full stomach, but Helmut was the opposite.

This time again, Helmut only half-heartedly chewed his food after hearing Elaga’s threat that if he didn’t eat it, she would shove it down his throat.

“How does it taste?”

Susan asked cautiously.

She is from a noble family. The other person is a boy who looks much younger than himself.

However, I have a feeling that I cannot do anything carelessly, so my tone of voice naturally becomes polite.

Helmut did not respond this time either. He chewed his food dryly and then lay down again.

Even though these strange women were as irritating as human beings crawling on his skin, he chose not to react.

“Hello Helmut!”

Children are simple. Sarah, who recovered in a day, spoke again, but Helmut ignored her.

Sarah didn’t cry this time. Susan and Sarah spent their time there talking to each other, not paying attention to Helmut’s silence.

Doing pastimes like doing the sewing you brought with you or reading books together that you don’t know where you got them from. As if Helmut was just in the background.

Elaga chatted with them occasionally, stayed there for hours, and then took them away.

The work continued. Not every day, but quite often, maybe once a day.

And at some point, their visit became so annoying to Helmut that he couldn’t bear it.

It wasn’t that he was constantly talking to me, but just by the presence of something moving around and making noise.

It violated Helmut’s desired time.

All Helmut wanted was silence. Silence like a swamp where no one exists. I wanted to be locked in there. He didn’t need anyone.

However, even if you are not listening, you can hear the sounds of words, their movements, their presence. I tried to ignore it, but even trying to ignore it was so annoying that at some point I couldn’t stand it.

Helmut eventually called Elaga, who found him alone a few days later.

“Elaga.”

[Are you ready to stand up now?]

Elaga raised her head triumphantly, as if she knew you would. A cold voice came from Helmut.

“Don’t you think I could hurt them?”

Elaga snorted.

[Don’t be funny, you weakling. As long as I keep my eyes open and watch clearly, you won’t be able to do that.]

It was Elaga who said the funny thing. No matter how easily Elagara subdued her rampaging self, she would not be able to stop Helmut from breaking the neck of the woman who was right in front of him.

‘You think I won’t do that.’

Elaga wouldn’t have been able to guess how much Helmut would have changed in the human world.

Does that confidence come from the monster’s instincts? The person who knew best that Elaga’s confidence was correct was Helmut himself.

No matter how broken he was, no matter how immersed in futility and despair, Helmut was still Helmut.

Helmut doesn’t do that.

never.

They say people have a bottom, but Helmut’s bottom did not go to the extent of hurting the weak to vent his anger.

It was nature. A pure essence that cannot be distorted or altered.

Helmut realized that he was not broken.

Like an unbroken bead amidst the collapsed fragments.

I just need time now. I don’t even know how much I’ll need.

Elaga quietly asked a question.

[What do you think? Those two women.]

“What do you think?”

Helmut asked coldly. One of them was like that, but one of them was too young to be considered a woman.

[Who do you like more?]

Helmut couldn’t believe his ears for a moment. Because the nuance of the question sounded strange.

“Who do you like more?”

[Yeah, I thought about it. It may be a little early, but you will soon become an adult in human years. It’s time to meet your partner. That will make you okay, too.]

Elaga believed that the wounds she received from her mother would be resolved by creating a new family.

The reason he brought Susan and Sarah wasn’t simply with the intention of becoming friendly with Helmut.

Elaga presented them to Helmut. Their wishes were not taken into consideration. Helmut is a cute and strong human male.

They didn’t even think of them as livestock, but unlike Helmut, who was independent, the two women were completely dependent on Elaga. They were like Elaga’s property.

Elaga threw it patronizingly.

[Choose whichever one you like. The younger one may need some time to grow up, but the age difference will be less than that of Susan.]

Helmut shouted fiercely without even realizing it.

“Is Ella out of her mind?”

Swearing and criticism filled my throat.

[With his speaking habits. I’m saying this all for you. What’s the problem?]

“Don’t you know what the problem is?”

My heart was congested. Yes, Elaga, a monster, could not have known.

But how dare you bring a mother and daughter and choose between them. This is unacceptable in terms of human common sense and ethics.

Even as a blunt Helmut, hearing Elaga’s words made me feel frustrated and angry.

It was stimulating Helmut in some way.

[If you live with a mate, nurture yourselves, and have babies, won’t you also become happier here? Humans say that’s the case.]

“That’s wrong. I’m not like that. And they are not.”

Helmut spoke decisively. I don’t think I’ve ever been more determined in my life.

Elaga tilted her head as if she was genuinely curious.

[Why not? Have you ever met a woman outside?]

“I have.”

[Pretty?]

Even the monster’s eyes seemed to be hiding the human beauty.

Helmut frowned. Memories that I had forced to bury inside of me that I did not want to remember vaguely come to mind.

A girl with silver hair and purple eyes.

“…It’s pretty.”

Elaga said in a pitiful tone.

[But you are in the Forest of Pahe and we can no longer meet you. That woman could stab you in the back just like your mother.]

“I know.”

Helmut exhaled coldly. It’s so clear that I’m starting to wonder if they’re doing it on purpose.

Does despair mean you should despair even more?

[Is she that pretty? So it’s not noticeable?]

“Yes. So, why don’t you meet Elagana’s partner?”

Even if they are not the same leopard, monsters are still one species. You’re going to choose between me and the monster, what kind of livestock are you?

Are you trying to build a farm without eating humans? It is indeed a monster’s sensibility to have a baby with any woman.

Anyway, Helmut had no intention of responding to that. His family betrayed him and his heart was crushed.

Even Darian’s sword was taken away, and all that was left was himself. Helmut was sick of both people and emotions.

‘Seeing that I feel this way makes me quite human.’

Helmut once again realized that he had changed a lot in the human world.

[If you don’t like it, don’t say it. Still, we are the same human being, so let’s be friendly.]

Elaga, who spoke arbitrarily, turned her back. Inside, I was grumbling that I was a picky guy.

Only when I was alone again did the soaring emotions subside.

It seemed like there was no more heat left inside him, but strangely enough, the stimulation Elaga gave him broke Helmut’s lethargy.

It shook his sinking core.

The shaking made Helmut stand up faster than expected.

After about two months of wasting time meaninglessly back in the Forest of Pahe, Helmut picked up his sword again.
