Helmut Episode
137 Chapter
9 End of the first semester
After leaving the Pedica Forest, each day passed without any particular events. Helmut has integrated quite well into academy life. Hiding his claws and being an excellent and exemplary student. Like a stone that is not ordinary but not too angular.
It was a day before final exams.
‘Do you know a woman with this name, Marguerite Iraine?’
‘The name is…’
Helmut, who was sitting by the window and cooling his head, suddenly remembered a memory from a few weeks ago.
Charlotte’s eyes widened in embarrassment and her subsequent answer. After that, the mysterious conversation I had with Alea also flashed through my mind. For some reason, the memories of Area were particularly strong.
‘I heard you sparred with that first-year girl?’
His expression was the same as usual, but his eyes were fierce.
‘Ah, I asked you to do it.’
‘Do you do everything I ask you to do?’
‘It’s not like that.’
‘So you’re saying we’re in a relationship worth doing this to?’
‘Is it worth it?’
‘Are you asking because you don’t know that?’
After a somewhat tiring conversation, Helmut spoke appropriately. This is because there was something that could not be revealed to him.
‘I joined him for exercise because he was a talented guy. If you do it with Asuka, you’re sure to get upset. Of course I will win.’
‘Oh well.’
Only then did Area understand. I felt like I was asking too much. He turned around and gave one last piece of advice.
‘Anyway, be careful!’
Does this mean you should be careful of your followers? In Helmut’s opinion, Charlotte was not the type to tire out Area.
But that’s his decision. I don’t think Area will like it if she hears it. Maybe that’s not what I meant. Helmut didn’t necessarily dwell on riddles that I couldn’t find the answer to.
‘I feel obsessed, but is it an illusion?’
Area’s only friend was actually Helmut. I heard that if your interpersonal relationships are narrow, you may be biased towards your one and only friend. In that respect, it wasn’t something I couldn’t understand.
In fact, Helmut had reason to suspect Area’s secret in other ways as well. But he was completely bad at that.
Also, in some ways, it was so innocent that it felt insensitive. If you are obsessed, you end up thinking that you are being obsessed.
Helmut closed the book. He was using the library in a different way this time. Now I know how to study. Since I no longer had to receive tutoring, there was no need to find a study room.
Asuka said the library was stuffy and rented a study room with Xian. Helmut was able to naturally shake off those who were in his way.
Helmut had realized that new experiences would influence his achievements in some way. I was struggling to increase that new experience. Part of this is using the library, which is crowded during exam periods.
In the library, we studied at a long table, like a dining table, where everyone sat in a row on both sides.
I piled up the books, sat down, and buried my nose in them. The area was so quiet that only the sounds of pens moving or paper scraping could be heard.
There, Helmut was an alien being. All eyes were on the appearance of an extremely handsome male swordsman from the swordsmanship department.
Most people buried their eyes in books because their noses were too small, but there were also people who approached actively.
“Drink this and do it.”
A pretty girl with an alluring vibe placed a glass bottle of lemon juice in his place. Helmut looked at it suspiciously and spoke coldly.
“I don’t eat sour things.”
I wasn’t the type to be picky about food, but I felt uncomfortable eating what this senior gave me. The opponent is the 3rd year senior in the magic department who taught him what cotton candy is. A follower of Area. Even if it wasn’t actually true, Helmut perceived it that way.
“We’ve said hello before, do you remember my name?”
“well. “This is a library and you can’t make noise.”
It was a whisper in a low voice, but it was a reading room full of study bugs. Everyone was sensitive. Teresa felt the glare focused on me and flinched. She tilted her head to Helmut and whispered.
“Then do you want to go out together for a little while? “I have something to tell you.”
She was a girl that everyone would find attractive. Confidence was evident in his proactive attitude. His eyes turned to the book.
“no.”
Helmut spoke firmly.
“I have to study for my exam.”
‘Well, there are all these guys!’
Teresa’s pride was greatly hurt. She is very popular on campus. It was my first time meeting someone so arrogant. But I didn’t think it would be easy from the beginning. She tried to smile.
“Okay, I won’t disturb you. See you later.”
I didn’t want to see him again next time, but Helmut responded lightly.
“yes.”
This is because it becomes tiring to incur a grudge against a skilled wizard.

“Hey Helmut. “Is your exam study going well?”
Around midnight, Helmut returned to the dormitory. Sian waves his hand. He was the one who got along well with Asuka. Are you studying or going out for a late-night snack? Helmut seemed to know the answer. Because Xian’s cheeks became chubby as the exam period entered.
“I heard this second-year swordsmanship practical training will be a bit fun. I saw the magic school professors talking with the instructors. A practical test day deal.”
Asuka snorted.
“It worked out well. “If they go to the actual game, the grades of those who can’t do anything will plummet.”
After dealing with a first-class mercenary-level assassin, Asuka was feeling confident in her fighting sense. Even if Fasho was an easy opponent, the 6th year Academy student dealt a blow to him who, under most circumstances, would not have been able to last long. Even though she was lucky, for Asuka, luck was also a skill in this case.
“I am also a genius.”
Asuka suddenly muttered. He looked at Helmut blankly.
‘Just because this kid is more of a genius doesn’t mean I’m not a genius.’
Genius is not a unique word. The few who are better than the majority are called geniuses, and even among those few, only a very small number are called geniuses.
Asuka deserved to be called that word too. Even after losing in sparring and being confident in my skills, I was pushed down to second place because of Helmut. Asuka has also been stressed. The feeling of deprivation of having had something taken away. Even if you don’t have any ill feelings toward Helmut, you are resentful.
But still, he was Asuka. Other than Helmut, other kids in the same grade can’t even follow his footsteps. It was rare to find someone who could effectively fight a strong opponent despite not having that much experience. But even Asuka becomes a criminal in front of Helmut. he asked with a tick.
“Are you confident in your handwriting now?”
For some reason, Asuka was disgusted with Helmut.
“so so.”
“I know that? “If I get a perfect score on the written exam, I might surpass your grade.”
That… wasn’t entirely unlikely. There won’t be much difference in the practical scores between Helmut and Asuka.
“Just wait and see, I will win this time.”
Helmut stared at Asuka, who was showing a fighting spirit. It is better to be motivated like this than to be affected by the mentality of defeat and take the second-in-command position for granted. However, that motivation also brought a sense of crisis to Helmut. So Helmut spoke slightly aggressively.
“Do whatever you want. “I will be the one who wins anyway.”
“Huh? Look how arrogant it comes out. “Do you look like Area?”
I feel like bringing up Area to Asuka would sound like an insult to anyone. Xian suddenly intervened.
“Do you want to bet? “The loser gets to take off his pants on the playground and write his name with his butt.”
He added quickly.
“You can wear underwear.”
He already had a premonition of Asuka’s defeat. And there was also resentment. I still get annoyed when I remember running around the playground because of Asuka. Asuka snorted.
“If you do something like that, you’ll be suspended from school, right? “I can’t let my friend get suspended from school.”
No matter how confident I sound, I don’t take bets like that. Surprisingly, Asuka was not a gambling person.
“coward! You think you’ll lose, right? “Did you just brush your mouth off?”
As Xian scoffed, Asuka’s eyes turned fierce.
“Won’t you shut up? “Do you think that would make me fall for provocation?”
“Just keep your mouth open. Ahh!”
Xian struggled as Asuka strangled him with her forearm. The light spirit attached to Xian’s shoulder pretended to pull Asuka’s hair, telling her not to touch my wizard. Even during the exam period, they were still active and full of energy. The porridge seems to fit well.
“…I’m done.”
Helmut quietly retreated. While Asuka was doing that, he planned to work on securing the top position. Helmut returned to his dormitory room. Area was not there.
These days, Helmut falls asleep around midnight. After studying at the library, I came back, looked at some more books, and woke up early in the morning to practice. Going to the next class was my daily routine these days.
Area came in later than that and slept until late. After washing up in the bathroom, Helmut suddenly noticed a note on his desk.
‘What is this.’
When I opened it, I saw the expected essay questions for the ‘Understanding Magic’ test written on the first page. There are five. Helmut turned the pages of the book. What is written after that is his answer. It was written in a scrawl-like handwriting, but at first glance, it was a surprisingly good answer. The development of logic, vocabulary level, rich knowledge, and even his views are perfectly incorporated.
Some time ago, I was asked in passing about the scope of the exam, and I told it to them. I guess I remembered it. Tutoring is clearly over. So I guess this is some kind of after-sales service.
“…That’s great.”
Area has been good to Helmut since he survived the attack by the assassin. Did he feel sorry for himself? Helmut tilted his head. From that day on, I never took off the bracelet that Area gave me. Area also made a request to God.
“I’m not dying.”
It wasn’t that dangerous. But for some reason, the feeling of someone taking care of me wasn’t a bad feeling. I’m sure they won’t ask for anything like this in return.
‘Do you really pay this much attention to your roommate?’
It may not seem like it, but it doesn’t matter if it’s a bit excessive. It’s not like I don’t know that Area has a unique personality.
‘Anyway, this will help a lot.’
As I was trying to solve Area’s predicted problems on paper, I started to feel sleepy. Helmut left his written answer on his desk and went to bed. Since Area came back late, it seemed unlikely that we would meet that night.
‘I’ll have to say thank you when I see it.’
Helmut closed his eyes. Even if Area comes and goes, he will not wake up. My heightened vigilance also became dull after sharing a room with Area.
But his sleep did not last long. Helmut never slept more than four or five hours a day. Even if he sleeps a lot, he doesn’t sleep more than seven hours, so it goes without saying during exam periods. However, in that small amount of time, Helmut completely fell into sleep. It was a deep sleep.
He woke up around dawn, washed his face, and headed to his desk. This is to look at the answer sheet that I wrote yesterday and fell asleep before training. But what Helmut found on his desk was an answer sheet with a huge number of red marks.
‘Did Area see it?’
Helmut looked at the answer sheet shyly. It seems that his answer was still below the standard for Area. The handwriting looks disorganized, probably because he was annoyed while editing it. It is written in a nagging tone.
‘It seems like we’re having a written conversation.’
Area was sleeping. He must have come in at dawn, so it is natural that he is asleep now that it is dawn. Helmut revised his answer based on Area’s corrections and then came out to practice. He was also very much a swordsman in the sense that he didn’t like looking at the writing in the morning.
