Chapter.2 A crisis is an opportunity is a crisis (1)
Sweep, swoop,
swoop!
As the sun set, a long line of people formed in front of the city gates of Turan, waiting to enter the city after finishing their work for the day. And in the meantime, a large man whose head was the same height as the others, even though he was squatting down, was scribbling something on the ground with a wooden stick.
“Let’s see, the forest of Notum is around here on the west side of the blue line. There are wheat fields on both sides along the main street in the middle, and the castle gate… Can I mark it like this?
Tiring-!
[Regional information update – New area: Turan City, Northern Rodrik]
“Ah, that’s it.”
What I’m working on right now is storing local information in a system called mapping.
The system does not even provide a basic map, but this can be resolved by registering by directly recording the route taken or by purchasing a map at a nearby store.
Of course, it is much easier to buy a map, but the maps that I can buy at my level right now are just rough drawings of the terrain and city roads in large chunks, so it is more accurate to record them like this whenever I have time.
“This came out pretty well? “At this level… I can buy paper and make a map later when I have time.”
The map that had just been registered in the system showed not only the topography and main reference points of the road, but also some rough, but contour lines. When I first mapped a character I had previously raised, only the circles and dotted lines on the road were displayed at this level, so you can see that the quality is exceptional. It was an effect of artistic traits such as high awareness and [glittering eyes] that were inevitably acquired from the start.
“I think I could draw it better… Why don’t you erase it and try again from the beginning?”
– Soy Sauce Gay Bar: Professor, didn’t you say earlier that you don’t have time?
– Jokass: He said he was busy. Are you saying that this game is a game where every minute and every second is a waste?
Swoosh Swoosh!
“I’m also anxious. But what can we do when there are so many people trying to enter the castle?”
The professor lifted his head slightly and looked at the people lined up in front of him.
Woe!
“Mandy’s cow gave birth to a calf….”
Woe!
“No matter how I live, I will be able to survive….”
Hwaaaah!
“Pass! next! “Move quickly!”
“Ugh! Shit!”
The effect of [Mental Breakdown] is like having a patient in the terminal stage of anxiety disorder in your head. As I shoved the information I acquired through heightened awareness into my head against my will, I thought,
‘What? A cow gave birth? ‘It’s suspicious!’
‘You can survive somehow? A guy without a plan! ‘It’s suspicious!’
‘Move quickly? The security is in a hurry? It’s suspicious!!!!!’
And it’s ringing an alarm bell in my head. It’s good to acquire information. However, I have to differentiate it a bit and learn it. It’s driving me crazy because I’m cramming everything from people’s conversations to even the most useless information, such as the number of finger-sized stones on the floor, into my head!
The reason I was mapping was because when I looked around, my head started ringing like it was going to explode. Anything is fine, so if you focus on one thing, it’s a little less difficult.
Green onions!
The professor reflexively squatted down and closed his eyes due to the pain that struck him as soon as he raised his head.
“Anything to focus on is good, so anything worth concentrating on is okay… So, shall we make a plan for the future?”
– takealook: Didn’t you plan that all out earlier?
“The more detailed the plan, the better! “I’m just checking to see if I missed anything.”
The professor tried to erase the map he had drawn on the floor with his hand, but withdrew his hand and carefully rubbed the dirt with his foot.
“Now, let’s look at the big things first. First, what should we aim for?”
In fact, setting goals at this stage doesn’t have much meaning. Like the event where I met Notum earlier, I don’t know when and where an event will occur and I have to act organically in a way that is helpful to me according to that event. However, you can think about the final goal, the direction of clearing, even now.
“I want to do it in the direction of clearing my long-cherished wish… but it will be difficult, right?”
– Speed Wagon: Both are difficult. When it comes to clearing the world, the character has clear limitations, and clearing a long-cherished wish is a matter of timing.
– takealook: It makes no sense to even think about clearing in the first place.
– Highway Nacho Man: If I had to choose between the two, it would definitely be the long-awaited one.
The main story of World 3 takes place over about 10 years from 121 to 130 of the solar calendar, and there are two main ways to clear it.
first. Clearing only the [Long Wish Quest] that occurs according to the origin set when creating a character and seeing the character ending, also known as Long Wish Quest.
To give an example of my character, since he is [the bastard son of a fallen family of knights], this route involves roughly rebuilding the ruined family and ending it by crying in front of the family’s graves. It’s easy, fast, and best of all, you don’t have to go through the destruction scenarios that exist in every world.
However, in this case, humanity will eventually be destroyed due to the player’s failure to intervene in the flow of the world, so the player cannot receive permission to move on to the next world.
In some ways, since it is an easy mode of play, viewers’ preference will be much lower, and my broadcasting profits will also drop correspondingly.
The second is to tackle the destruction scenario head-on and clear it by raising the capabilities of all mankind using all possible means.
In this case, the purification rate is recorded along with the clear, and various benefits are given depending on the purification rate, such as being able to meet the forces that survived this world in the next world. If the character’s long-awaited quest is achieved while progressing through the destruction scenario,
the player’s character will also be remembered as part of history and will appear as an NPC in the next world.
In my case, it would be right to focus on clearing my long-cherished wish without even thinking about it. But the reason I’m worried like this is….
‘If the origin includes something like [family~], I need to spend at least 5 years in game time to do the long-cherished quest, but the path I’ve taken so far has seemed very peaceful.’
Yes. The wheat fields, where harvest was in full swing, shook with the laughter of farmers, and the neatly paved roads showed that order was perfectly maintained here. Isn’t that a good thing? It varies a bit depending on the situation.
World 3 The early 121st year of the solar calendar is a battleground for politicians who have forgotten the crisis of 70 years ago. The nobles use the blood of the people to strengthen their armies and invade nearby territories, and the king encourages such conflicts to divert the attention of the nobles from his position.
As a result, security is in shambles, the forest is infested with bandits, the plains full of corpses are filled with the groaning cries of ghouls and wights, and it looks like a hell of a royal family. Even if you manage to escape the danger and arrive at the village, you are forcibly conscripted and shot with arrows. Becoming a recipient is a common scene around 121. An era of great war in which numerous nobles disappeared and new families were established. It’s the perfect time to do family-related long-cherished quests.
‘But the fact that the road is so neatly organized means that the noble war has ended. If the road had been maintained to this extent, it would have been around the end of 123 or 124. ‘The time is so vague?’
If I could just know what year it is, I would have a lot less to worry about. I asked the surrounding NPCs in line with me, but perhaps because of my rugged appearance, they all hissed and turned their heads.
124 years is a bit too late to make a wish. As mentioned earlier, it takes at least 5 years to rebuild a family, and the extinction scenario begins in earnest in the 127th year of the solar calendar.
World 3 destruction scenario: [Large-scale attack by the wild beast species Mutation Blood].
From 124, when the era of the Great War ended, the warlocks began to slowly move, and in the year 127, the warlocks who had been active in the dark began to act in earnest.
‘Well, the security isn’t good. Wherever you go, there are overflowing corpses and vengeful spirits. It’s the ideal environment for warlocks to run wild.’
Assuming it is now 124 years, we have to be really busy from now on. If you are a character focused on diplomatic traits, you must inform the nobles who are still obsessed with conquest of the impending danger and rally their forces. If you are a combat character, you must defeat at least one more warlock.
According to research by community members, killing one warlock has the effect of reducing one mute army in the second half, so the busier you are now, the less difficult the destruction scenario will be.
Also, during this period, you can often see [Experimental Mutation Blood] and [Carrying Mutation Blood] running around the battlefield, so you need to catch every single one you see.
If you miss it, the mother body that has absorbed the biological and magical characteristics collected on the battlefield will produce stronger individuals, and the difficulty of the latter part will increase exponentially.
‘Are you trying to rebuild your family at a time when everyone is struggling for the survival of humanity? It’s easy to get stabbed in the back and run after.’
After fighting so hard against the mutes, the moment the 129th year of the solar calendar arrives… the third destruction begins.
“In the end, what you focus on is different depending on the starting point, but no matter how you look at it, it has clearly passed 124 years, so it seems difficult to eat it raw as a long-cherished dream.
– Speed Wagon: You’ve already decided everything in your mind, so why are you asking us?
“It’s because it’s frustrating. “Because it’s frustrating.”
124 (estimated) The era of the warlock. This is a character who has no background and looks like this, so diplomacy is almost impossible. Combat power is below civilian level. The more you plan, the more bleak it becomes.
“next!”
“Ugh. I don’t know. We have to do it one by one. First, let’s get some good equipment in Turan. “There is a saying that the more urgent you are, the better you should go back.”
The professor sighed as he looked at the castle gate that was already in front of him.
***
“Uhm, this is so….. Pass!”
Turan’s inspection is not that difficult. Gideon, Northern Front Line Is it now Moludic Castle? In any case, Turan, located slightly closer inland than Moludic Castle and Pelas, serves as a supply depot for the two war cities, and since outsiders such as mercenaries and merchants often enter and exit, most of the inspections end with perfunctory questions.
‘name is?’
‘professor. ‘You cannot use your last name.’
‘I can’t use it… I guess he’s a fallen nobleman. ‘Why did you visit Turan?’
‘I want to make a living. I’m thinking of doing mercenary work.’
‘Good.’ A strong man like you is always welcome. There are always not enough people on the battlefield. There is no need to ask about gender or race. Age is?’
’20 years old.’
‘….Professor…. 50 years old…. quite young for 50.’
‘No, twenty. 20 years old! ‘I’m only 19 years old!’
‘Hehehe, it’s quite a funny joke, but I’m really busy right now. ‘I heard wrong, right?’
‘I’m twenty years old. ‘It’s because I have a somewhat unusual constitution.’
‘This guy is really! Don’t you know that according to Turanian city law, you can be arrested if you do not faithfully answer the guards’ questions? Don’t talk nonsense, speak quickly! age!’
’20! ‘Twenty!’
‘Iik! Catch it! ‘Seeing as he lies to such a simple question, he must be hiding something!’
‘What is it! Let go of this! Wow!!’
It took over 30 minutes to pass the not-so-tricky inspection.
“Hmm! Well… cheer up.”
“We were sorry. “I didn’t even know there was such a thing…”
Paradoxically, it was thanks to this weak body that he was able to be released from a situation where he would have been dragged in. As soon as the guards captured him, the flesh of the tightly bound area chafed and blood spurted out.
‘what! What happened! The charges haven’t even been confirmed yet, but who has already tortured them!’
‘Oh no! I just tied it with a rope, and suddenly there was blood…’
‘So I told you! ‘It’s a special constitution!’
The guards took advantage of the panic to quickly investigate the body. As you can see, he has a very frail body and his face has aged due to his constitution.
The guard, who had been listening to my story with a suspicious expression, gradually looked sympathetic. That’s because while he was talking, blood was flowing and the floor was soaked, so even though I didn’t want to believe it, I had no choice but to believe it.
Sigh –
I wrapped my arms with the herbs and bandages the security guard gave me and was about to leave when the guard captain suddenly held out his hand to me.
“What else?”
“No, I just wanted to pay my respects to you.”
What does this mean again?
Looking behind the guard leader, I saw that other guards doing the inspection were also glancing in this direction. What is that knowing smile?
The guard captain looked a little embarrassed, turned his head, cleared his throat a few times, and continued speaking.
“After hearing your situation, you seem like a different person. To survive a family tragedy with such a terrible disability and train your body to that level? It would have been impossible with ordinary will. “It’s been a while since I met a nice guy and I wanted to shake his hand.”
“Ah…yeah…well.”
My body has looked like this since I created the character. When
I held out my hand, the guard captain gently held my hand as if holding a dandelion seed. What is this? A favor is definitely a favor…. I feel bad! Behind there! Don’t steal my nose! For no reason. Don’t even look happy!
“You said you came here to work as a mercenary? You’re welcome. Turan is always short of workers. If you can’t find work in the city, go to the Silver Shout Inn. Can’t you see the straight road in front of you right now? To the left. If you look at it and walk straight in, you will find it. It is the largest mercenary guild in Turan, so there must be work for ‘people like you’.”
Tuk-tuk!
The guard commander looked up at me with warm eyes for a moment and tapped my forearm in a friendly way.
“Good-bye!”
“cheer up!”
“Don’t lose to the curse, boy!”
“Do not give up!”
“Uh…um….”
Instead of explaining something, the professor just waved his hand at the guards who were waving at him.
Tiring!
[Information update: Turan Guard’s favorability towards the player. has risen.]
– Noru Drug: Wow! A man of devilish nature! Following the troll, he defeated the gate guard!
– Jokass: That’s incredible performance. He boiled the guard with just one face.
– Speed Wagon: I should record it. This is how it works. There’s a strategy too.
+ Player ‘Soy Sauce Gay Bar’ donated 500 shillings!
– Soy Sauce Gay Bar: LOL We LOL will always find the answer LOL
– Highway Nacho Man: Preferential treatment for the disabled. I can’t even imagine. I did it. Respect!
“….shit.”
This is the first time that another NPC’s favor has been so unwelcome. Or is it the second time? What Notum showed me was a kind of favor. A
thought creeped into the professor’s head: ‘Maybe this ugly character really has a strange charm?’ It slowly bloomed.
