#83
The unlit second floor was bathed in quiet moonlight. Iril’s mouth slowly opened.
“Waaah…!”
The view of Phileon Academy was spread out beyond the wide balcony. Originally the view was limited due to the wall surrounding the site but from this house facing the east gate you could enjoy the beautiful campus.
“Let’s go out and see.”
“Huh? huh…!”
Ronan took Iril out to the balcony. The cool night breeze ruffled her hair.
With my heightened field of view I could see more things than usual. I could see the main street where students came and went streetlights lining both sides of the road spiers piercing the sky and a river running through the middle of the site.
Even though it was dawn and the sun had not yet risen lights were on all over Phileon Academy. Ronan suddenly raised his index finger and pointed to a building in a corner of the campus. It was the Navardose building the dormitory where he stayed.
“I live there.”
“Wow it’s really close…! “Is this the place you told me about in a letter last time?”
Iril checked her distance and her eyes sparkled. In reality the distance between the Navardose pavilion and the new home was only about 10 minutes.
This was the biggest reason why Ronan chose this house. I liked the five-layer enchantment to prevent intruders and the secret shelter in the basement. In the end the best safety measure was close range.
Even if something happens I can run to it as soon as possible and if it’s urgent I can send a sitar. Judging by the speed of the guitar it would have taken just a few tens of seconds to get from the dormitory window to here.
The psychological stability my sister gained from being able to see where her brother was staying at all times was a bonus. Iril who was admiring her night view suddenly spoke to her in his main voice.
“…Thank you Ronan. “Really.”
“So do you like the house?”
“huh. Very…!”
Iril kept shaking her head. Her tears of joy were flowing down her cheeks. Ronan whose nose became sore at the sight of her avoided her gaze. He quickly wiped his eyes and breathed a sigh of relief.
‘…I finally solved it.’
What had been her goal from the moment she entered Phileon was accomplished. She felt like she could finally let her mind go. Unless she develops severe homesickness there is no need for her to return all the way to Nimburton.
Ronan suddenly recalled the days of choosing a house together with Schlieffen and turned his head. Whatever her intentions the child played a big role in finding such a nice home.
Schlieffen was looking at Iril’s back as if he were fascinated by something about her. He noticed Ronan’s gaze and quickly looked the other way. Ronan laughed.
‘Easy to understand kid.’
She thought it would be okay to invite him to her house sometimes or ask him to guard Iril. It’s probably too much motivation. At that time Sita flew across the night sky and sat on her railing.
“Bye!”
“Are you here?”
Following Ronan’s instructions I was on my way back after scouting to see if anyone had followed me during the move. Iril with her eyes wide open stroked Sita’s head.
“Ah Sita. “Where have you been?”
“Paya~”
“Ehehe do you like your new house? Now you can come here instead of Nimburton.”
Sita showed off her charms to Iril without much reporting. Fortunately nothing seemed to have happened. Ronan returned indoors while Iril was playing with Sita. He looked alternately at Asher and Schlieffen and opened his mouth.
“Thank you everyone. “Thanks to you it ended well.”
“I just did what I had to do.”
“Oh no. “There were a lot of things going on but I’m glad I was able to help.”
Asher added softly. ‘A lot of things happened but.’ Ronan who was giggling snapped his fingers as if he remembered something.
“You should bring your parents too Asher.”
“Ugh. “I still want to finish it before summer comes.”
“Okay man I thought well. “It’s no use losing everything and regretting it.”
“I can’t believe I lost this. that….”
“That’s what it says. “Anyway I’ll help you unconditionally so tell me when the time comes.”
Asher nodded her head timidly. He was also diligently making preparations to bring his parents to Nimburton.
Now that Nebula Clage was on the move there was no telling when or what would happen. Schlieffen who was standing with her arms crossed opened her mouth.
“So when are you going to unpack?”
“Can’t we just take it a little slower?”
“I cannot trust the insight of barbarians like you. “Let’s start right now.”
Schlieffen said firmly. They immediately got to work unpacking and arranging the items. No matter how little we brought it was not easy to put the household items in the right place.
Fortunately because of Schlieffen and Asher we were able to get the job done conveniently. Schlieffen who had a great sense of aesthetics gave instructions and Asher used his telekinesis to arrange the furniture.
“no. Placing flower pots there will spoil the aesthetics. “A little further to the right.”
“Then can I leave it here…?”
“It’s appropriate. “What’s your name?”
“Oh it’s Asher….”
“That’s right Asher. “I heard that you were born and raised in the same village as Miss Iril. Is this true?”
“yes? But…”
It was an awkward yet well-suited combination. They finished clearing up around sunrise. After unpacking all the belongings we had brought from Nimburton the empty house finally began to look like people were living in it.
“Wow it’s over! Everyone worked so hard! “Eat and go!”
A young Seogwang was crossing the kitchen. She said that Iril who had hurrayed for life would treat her to breakfast. Since the only ingredients I had at hand were potatoes the menu naturally became potato stew.
“This. “Is it really okay for me to eat it?”
“Stop shaking and scoop it up and eat it.”
They ate around a dirty wooden table brought from Nimburton. Schlieffen ate the meatless potato stew with great pleasure as if it were wine given by the emperor. Iril said excitedly after seeing that.
“Wow does it fit your mouth? “I thought you wouldn’t like this kind of thing because you are a noble person.”
“very. It’s delicious. “Very much.”
“Ehehe there are still a lot! “Eat more!”
Schlieffen nodded his head. A look of sadness appeared on his face as he received his fifth bowl of potato stew. It seemed like the warriors who faced the Demon Dragon Orsay didn’t make that kind of expression.
You idiot. Ronan muttered and slowly went up to the second floor. He slipped out onto the balcony and took out a cigarette pipe from his arms.
“I can’t stand this.”
I had to suck it up quickly before Iril caught it. He exhaled smoke as he watched students coming and going on campus. Professor Varen must be foaming at the mouth when he comes to work by now. As Ronan was thinking about this and that a commotion suddenly passed through his ears.
“…No!”
“ok?”
“…sir! “Hang in there!”
It was a somewhat familiar voice. Ronan turned her head in the direction of the sound.
Not far away people were gathered in a circle as if watching something. Among them Jaipa’s subordinates the beastmen were sticking out like scarecrows in a wheat field.
‘Why are those furry people gathered there?’
Ronan leaned his upper body out of the balcony. At the center of the crowd stood three men and women. Ronan’s expression darkened.
“Holy shit.”
Jaifa and Nabirose were facing each other. Judging by the fact that Great Tae Urusa was being held in Nabirose’s hand the atmosphere did not seem to be very good. Her Ade Shan in her school uniform was holding her and screaming.
“Instructor calm down! You can’t do this here!”
“But didn’t you see it too Adeshan? “That old cat is provoking me.”
“We just made eye contact!”
The mana flowing through Ursa’s sword body could be seen even from here. Ronan cursed and jumped down the balcony.
“Because you’re out of luck…!”
If either of them swung their sword incorrectly something very unpleasant would happen. Ronan quickly arrived at his destination and picked up the prisoners who were just watching.
“You bastards have you got hair on your brain too? “It looks like the whole area is blowing up so why are you just watching?”
“Hey kid. Do you know who that woman is? “He’s a Sentai Sword Saint.”
“How can we get in there? “If you were the adjutant you wouldn’t know…!”
“Yeah it’s useless.”
Ronan stepped forward through the crowd. Before long the two swordsmen and the restless appearance of Adeshan came into view. Jaifa who had been looking down at her in silence opened her mouth.
“Your fiery temper is still the same Butterfly Rose. “He became an educator so I thought he had become a bit lazy.”
“Okay pull out your sword. “I wish you would have used your sword instead of that toothpick.”
“Don’t you know that the spirit of victory is high? “You can’t beat me.”
At that moment Nabirose’s sword disappeared from sight. No one except Ronan and Jaifar saw the trail. Huh! The moment Ursa drew a semicircle in the air a crescent moon-shaped sword was shot into the sky.
The huge sword which seemed to have a diameter of up to 200 meters split the cumulus clouds drifting overhead in half. The faces of the onlookers turned pale. An interested voice came out of Jaifa’s mouth.
“…Interesting. “I’m much stronger than I was then.”
“Do you feel like giving it a try now?”
“A light exercise might be okay.”
Tendons sprouted from Jaipa’s hand holding the scimitar. The beastmen’s tails were curled under the bridge.
There was an atmosphere between the two sword saints as if they were going to roar and rush towards each other at any moment. As a butterfly I was the one trying to get my foot on him first. Ronan leapt above the crowd and landed between the two.
“What the fuck are you guys doing here?”
“Ronan?”
Adeshan’s eyes widened. Nabirose stopped. The heightened tension was relieved and time began to flow as it should. Jaipa laughed as if he had lost steam and took up the scimitar.
“…Did you finish the move successfully?”
“Well that’s right.”
“Good. I have to go soon. “I told the adjutant so go collect the bounty from the nearby guard station.”
“prize?”
“okay. “The old man from Nebula Clage you killed was a fairly famous wanted criminal.”
Jaipa informed him that there was a considerable bounty on the head of the old man who used the star’s protection.
Ronan nodded her head. This was another unexpected income. Nabirose who was dumbfounded pointed the tip of his sword at Zaipa and growled.
“Why are you talking so carelessly with my student?”
“Seeing as how they can’t even talk to each other it seems like they care a lot about me. “It’s worth it though.”
“Don’t change your mind. And what do you mean by moving?”
“Hear that for yourself. Indeed both this child and the Empire’s Morning Star stood on their own two legs after receiving my greeting. “He had good disciples.”
“What?”
Nabi Rose narrowed her eyebrows. It was a car where Jaipa was trying to say something. The crowd split to both sides and Lieutenant Were Lion appeared. She opened her mouth in salute to her Jaipa.
“Captain. His Majesty the Emperor has called. “I think you should go to the imperial palace immediately.”
“Damn this is why I wanted to leave so quickly… I understand.”
Jaifa clicked his tongue. It was natural but it didn’t seem like he had any good feelings towards the emperor. In the first place it was a relationship forced by a blood pact. The adjutant who also saluted Nabirose looked down at Ronan and said.
“Thank you for your cooperation in making the arrest. “I hope you receive the bounty.”
“is it so. What’s your name? “I see him often but I’ve never heard his name.”
“This is Major Nemea from the Imperial Knights.”
“Wow they were so elite. “I think you would be a good fit for one of our professors. Would you like me to introduce you?”
Nemea flinched as if embarrassed. Ronan who saw this unreasonable behavior laughed. Jaifa sighed deeply and opened her mouth.
“Then I will go. “I’m looking forward to the festival of swords Ronan.”
“Festival of Swords?”
Ronan tilted his head at the unfamiliar name. Jaifa didn’t answer. He walked towards the imperial palace as if he was being dragged along with his subordinates including Lieutenant Nemea.
The fluffy giants disappeared from sight after a while. Suddenly Adeshan who had been standing still stumbled as if his legs had lost strength. Ronan hurriedly helped her up.
“Ah…thank you.”
“what. Why is this happening all of a sudden? are you okay?”
“Uhm…but…actually I must say I was a little…nervous.”
Adeshan’s breathing became heavy. Ronan who realized the cause belatedly twisted his lips. Jaifar who caused the Night of the Fangs could be seen as Adeshan’s enemy.
“shit. I don’t know what to say. thank you for your effort.”
“Ugh it’s really okay now. “Thank you for your help.”
Adeshan relaxed and stood up. Since we had been standing face to face for a while it was not unreasonable for him to react this way.
In fact I was proud that I didn’t scream or faint. He is the person who directly caused the death of his parents and older brothers. At that time Nabirose who was quietly staring into space approached Ronan.
“Ronan. “Is what that cat said true?”
“yes?”
“It means being greeted and standing on your own two feet.”
“Uh… right? “If you’re talking about that damn surprise attack then that’s right.”
Nabirose’s eyes widened. Taking a deep breath to calm her emotions she continued.
“Explain everything that happened with that old monster. “Everything.”
