41. Lodolan (3)
#41
Karaka grabbed Ronan’s right arm. He placed Curse Eye’s body in Ronan’s hands before Ronan could say anything.
The eyes of Curse Eye who had been cut in half instantly turned blue. Ronan swung her arm feeling an unpleasant sensation as if something inside her body was being sucked out.
“What the fuck are you doing?”
widely! Curse Eye’s body fell to the floor after being thrown out. The blue color that invaded her eyes gradually expanded its area and even dyed the whites of her eyes and her body.
“Ororok….”
Soon the corpse which had been bubbling like foam began to melt. Ronan frowned at her.
“Wow.”
Soon only a bluish liquid remained where the body was. Karaka who was looking back and forth between Ronan and the liquid that was Curse Eye opened her mouth.
“Ronan.”
“I can’t ask you.”
“That’s not it. Are you okay? “Can’t you feel any changes in your body?”
“yes? “There’s nothing like that in particular.”
Her eyes were a little itchy but nothing was wrong. Karaka tilted her head as if she was amazed.
“How on earth are you still alive?”
“yes?”
Even when Edoon’s head exploded his calm face was distorted with embarrassment. He looked Ronan up and down and spoke with a more serious expression.
“Ronan is currently under a curse. “It’s also very powerful.”
“What?”
Nabirose who was listening frowned. Ronan pointed at himself with his index finger and laughed.
“Curse…? “Me?”
“yes. I don’t know what the curse is but… it’s a curse so strong that I don’t even dare to give any advice. “I’ve seen Curse Eye rush in first once or twice but this is the first time I’ve seen him melt unable to handle the curse.”
The melting of the Curse Eye due to the overload of the curse. It was a rare phenomenon whose precedents can only be found in academic books that are hundreds of years old.
She said that even if Karaka had taken it from Kurse Eye while he was still alive the result would have been the same. Ronan said pointing to the bluish liquid.
“Damn it what happens to me now? Do I have to live every day with the fear that I might wake up with blue diarrhea like that?”
Kara Ka shook her head.
“I don’t know if something like that will happen… I don’t know the type of curse so it’s hard to give a definite answer. Have you ever felt restricted in certain actions or words in your life?”
“Restrictions?”
“yes. First of all the gold series is the most common. “Not being able to run not being able to touch iron… whatever it is it’s something that other people can do for granted but only you can’t do…”
Ronan and Nabirose looked at each other almost simultaneously. Even without asking it was easy to tell that we were thinking the same thing.
An unidentified phenomenon that followed Ronan like a tag even after his return. A state of mana inability where one cannot see feel or manipulate unrefined mana.
Ronan who read Butterfly Rose’s eyes shook his head.
“no. “There is nothing in particular.”
“Hmm… Is that so? It’s a miracle that nothing has happened so far despite such a strong curse. Please be sure to see an expert.”
Karaka briefly explained the curses that may have stuck with Ronan ever since. A short life an incurable disease that appears late a body that explodes when certain conditions are met etc. It wasn’t a very pleasant story.
Karaka concluded her remarks by once again urging people to seek out a specialist. He smiled as he touched Cirilla’s trembling ear.
“Anyway I’m glad we caught two people. “You can hear the rest of the story from Miss Cirilla.”
“Ah…ahhh…no…please…”
“Hehe it seems like it would take quite some time to uncover the secret without exploding my head.”
Cirilla already seemed to have her mind broken. She would not be freed from Lodolan until all her restraints were lifted and her secrets were revealed. As Karaka said either alive or dead.
Of course it was none of Ronan’s business.
“Well it might take a while so please just find out for sure.”
“Of course. “But there’s one thing I’m curious about.”
It was Ronan who was adjusting her clothes. Suddenly the smile disappeared from Karaka’s face. He looked into Ronan’s eyes and slowly opened his mouth.
“What is Ahayute?”
“yes?”
“I heard you talking to Edoon. Her head exploded while she was trying to answer that question. “It seems to be in-depth information about an organization called Nebula Clazier. I would like to ask how you knew such information.”
Ronan was speechless for a moment. The question was so sudden that I wondered if it was intentional.
“Ah…that?”
The truth could not be revealed yet. It was an absurd story that could even be used as the subject of a fairy tale.
In fact I’m from ten years in the future and three bald heads with wings come down tearing the sky. Ahayute is one of them. Wahaha. Isn’t that a really sick name?
…How can you say something like this with your right mind? Rather than allaying suspicions she might end up sitting next to Cyril. Karaka who had been waiting for her answer shrugged his eyebrows.
“Master Ronan?”
‘Fucked.’
Something had to be done. Fragments of memories flashed through his mind as fast as his sharp sword. Ronan who finally came up with the best answer lowered his head.
“I was five years old… so it’s already been nine years.”
“Hmm?”
A deep look suddenly appeared on Ronan’s face. Karaka tilted her head. Nabirose’s expression hardened at Ronan’s next words.
“I used to live in Nalanda with my parents. “Until the great fire broke out.”
Of course it was a blatant lie. Ronan had never left Nimburton until that age and he had no recollection of ever seeing his parents. Ronan paused for a moment and smiled sadly.
“The fire that started in the west swept through the wheat fields with the southeast wind. My parents whose only possession was a handful of fields grabbed a bucket of water and jumped into the fire. And…he never came back.”
After saying this Ronan looked at Karaka. There was no change in his calm expression. Damn is this because he is also an interrogator from Lodolan? Ronan continued speaking in an even more humid voice.
“I set foot in the deserted wheat field only after the fire had gone out. That was the first time I saw it. This Cyril Lara wears the same robes her elves wear.”
“Hoo….”
“I heard the name Ahayute there. “I couldn’t hear the rest of the conversation but I could clearly hear those foreign words.”
Karaka’s frozen face began to soften. The secret to a realistic lie is that there must be some degree of truth mixed in.
When Ronan was a wanderer he considered it a stroke of luck that he visited the Nalanda region. Even though a long time had passed the people there could not forget the arson committed by Nebula Clazier.
“…That’s why I knew. “It’s an unforgettable memory.”
Ronan’s impassioned speech ended with a reasonable level of probability met. It was true that he was an orphan anyway so he wouldn’t have been caught. Karaka who was thinking about something nodded her head.
“I see…I understand why you’re so obsessed. “You must have experienced something unfortunate because of vicious criminals.”
“I’m sorry for the late reply. “It’s not a very good memory.”
“I owe you an apology. Due to the nature of my job I find myself asking questions as if I were interrogating them without realizing it.”
Karaka’s face softened again. Ronan then breathed a sigh of relief. Karaka wrote down the information she found out today on a document she took out from her nightstand.
“So to what extent has your curiosity been satisfied?”
“yes.”
Ronan shook his head. Although not all the truth has been revealed to the surface the ‘arrival of the stars’ means the event of descent. Just finding out that the person behind it was Nebula Clazier was a remarkable achievement. Moreover now that the Empire has discovered the identity of the church a large-scale eradication operation will begin soon.
‘It’s urgent to catch more Nebula Claziers and hit them.’
The best case scenario was that the Advent event itself did not occur. I don’t know if that would be possible but I would be able to find out more information by destroying Nebula Clage’s base or capturing its members and putting them in Lodolan.
The business ended there. Karaka guided Ronan and Nabirose back out of the fortress. As soon as I stepped out the door a harsh sea breeze blew onto my face.
“Both of you please be careful. As I said the information discovered in Lodolan will be organized into documents and sent to various circles in the near future.”
“I am indebted to you. “I remember.”
“you’re welcome. It was an honor to meet the Lord of all things. Ronan please visit those who are skilled in curses.”
“all right. Thank you Karaka.”
With that last greeting Nabirose and Ronan left Lodolan. A griffon carriage with poor ride quality took them to the islands.
Even if you took the sky road without obstacles it took quite a while to reach the island. Rodolan Fortress seen from the sky really looked like a small reef.
The red sunset was breaking over the water scales of the dawn sea. Ronan opened his mouth with his gaze outside his window.
“Is it because of the curse that I can’t control mana?”
“I think so.”
“hmm. “I don’t remember accumulating any karma worthy of such a curse.”
“…”
Nabirose swallowed what she was trying to say. She had recently heard that Cardan who had sparred with Ronan may never grow his hair again. Ronan continued rubbing her eyes.
“Honestly it’s a little scary. Did you see Karaka’s expression at that time? Shit I wouldn’t be that surprised if I pooped and threw it at the wall.”
“Is there anyone who has any guesses?”
“…yes.”
Ronan sighed. I was told that I was cursed before I was at least fourteen but even when I looked back on my past life I couldn’t think of anyone who could have placed such a terrible curse on me.
Ronan who was admiring the griffon’s wings looked at Nabirose again.
“Thank you for reminding me.”
“What do you mean?”
“I told you not to let Karaka know that I can’t use mana.”
“Not revealing weaknesses is the basics of a warrior. “Anyway why did you lie like that?”
“lie? Aha did you notice?”
With butterflies I nodded his head. She was referring to the past history that Ronan had told Karaka about. Anyway it was a creepy insight.
“How did you know? “I thought it was perfect.”
“There is a way. It’s not like you’ve lied once or twice. “If the Rodolan inquisitor is fooled then everything is said.”
“hmm. I just did it because I thought people wouldn’t believe me even if I told the truth. Shall I tell the instructor?”
“It’s done. “You probably have your own reasons.”
With those words Butterfly Rose turned her gaze out the window. The more I looked at her the more I thought she was a good person and at the same time one question raised her head.
‘Why wasn’t this person seen during the Advent incident?’
In fact it was an idea she had been consistently thinking about. Looking back now there are very few great people living today who were present at the time of the Advent incident.
Nabirose Phileon’s principal Krava Kratir and the current swordsman Zaipa did not appear. This was something I didn’t find strange at all when I was a punitive soldier and didn’t know anything.
‘What kind of trick did Nebula Clazier do?’
Actually it was not strange for anything to happen in ten years. Ronan blinked nervously at the question that arose as he bit his tail at her. I narrowed my eyes at her with butterflies when I saw that.
“Why do you keep rubbing your eyes since earlier?”
“I don’t know. “I’ve been itching ever since I touched that tumor…”
“…As soon as you return find out about the curse. There must be at least one expert in that field at Phileon. “I’ll tell my assistant too.”
“Yes…thank you.”
“Stop rubbing.”
Ronan and Nabirose arrived at Phileon late at night. As soon as the next morning dawned Ronan headed to the first arena where Nabirose’s class was held. Adeshan was seen working hard to organize his weapons.
“It’s been a while Adeshan.”
“Ah you came quickly Ronan. “I’ll sort it out soon so can you wait a moment?”
Ade Shan raised his hand in greeting. Because of his work his pure white nape was exposed beneath his ponytail. Ronan suddenly remembered the first day of their reunion and opened his mouth.
“How are you these days?”
“hmm? How do you feel?”
“Isn’t that Cardan idiot bothering you?”
“Ah Cardan hasn’t come to class for a while. Other kids who were watching also approached me one by one. thank you.”
“That’s a good thing.”
Seeing her for the first time in a while gave off a fresh and friendly vibe that was still difficult to get used to. Ronan began helping Adeshan with his work in silence.
“Oh you really don’t have to help me…!”
“It’s okay.”
“Sorry. “I heard it was urgent… but you said you were under some kind of curse?”
“yes. “To be precise I realized that I was under a curse.”
“I’m worried…is it really okay for me to help you? “If you go and sit over there…”
“I’ve been fine for over ten years but this one thing is killing me.”
Sure enough once the two people stopped by the work was completed quickly. Adeshan took Ronan to the area where the magic department buildings were gathered.
“But where are we going?”
“Um…Pillar Park. We were supposed to meet there. “I heard that among the professors in the magic department there is someone with deep knowledge in curses so I’m going to ask my junior for guidance.”
Pillar Park was literally a park within the grounds lined with giant pillars. Ronan shrugged his eyebrows.
“guide? “Do you need directions to find a professor?”
“Well I don’t know much about magic… I heard you’re a very unique person.”
“There are many perverts among wizards. Damn I’m suddenly scared.”
“Hehe he is a very very great junior so he will guide me well.”
Ade Shan smiled triumphantly and nodded her head. She seemed to be a very proud junior. When she arrived at Pillar Park Ade Shan looked around her.
“hmm? “I was supposed to meet you here… but you’re not out yet?”
Ronan and Adeshan were the only people in the secluded Pillar Park. At that time the pillar that stood right behind Adeshan shimmered like a haze and a girl suddenly jumped out.
“Sister Adeshan!”
“Aaaah!”
The girl was wearing a black robe the uniform of the magic department. Her purple-black hair was as flowing as water. The girl who appeared out of thin air hugged Adeshan from behind.
“…hmm?”
Ronan’s eyes widened at the sight of a vaguely familiar face. Ade Shan smiled softly as she stroked the girl’s head.
“Eri you were surprised.”
“Hehe this is a new magic I learned this time. It seems like a good idea right?”
“huh. “It’s amazing as expected Eri.”
A girl named Eri smiled brightly. Ronan who looked into her eyes looked at Eri again. The girl with the corners of her eyes raised like a cat was someone she knew.
“Please guide me today. “I heard the situation is more serious than I thought.”
“Anything Adeshan asks I have to do it. Now follow me.”
Eri then turned her head towards Ronan. And she just froze. Since the possibility that it was her twin could not be ruled out Ronan called her name rather cautiously.
“Erzebet?”
“…ah?”
Erzsebet’s face began to turn red. Her mouth slowly opened as she hurriedly let go of Ade Shan’s arm.
“Ronan…?”
Ronan remembered her. The top freshman in the magic department. Erzsebet de Acalusia.
She was the daughter of the Acalusia family who treated those without talent as sheep and urged them to rule as lions.
