35. Scream from the ground (2)
#35
“Holy shit.”
Ronan hurriedly got up. A strange sound like the one I heard the day I left Gran Cappadocia. And a faint scream was coming from down below.
Asher seeing her grim expression shrugged her shoulders.
“What’s wrong Ronan?”
“It seems like something happened in the neighborhood below.”
Ronan randomly pressed the back of the furnace. At some point a certain section caved in and the floor began to sink. Ronan muttered frowning at her.
“Too slow….”
The descent speed was too slow. Ronan picked up a war hammer hanging on the wall. Then he started hitting the corner of the elevator.
bang! bang! bang!
“What are you doing now?!”
Marya shouted surprised by Ronan’s unexpected actions. A hollow-like sound echoed and pieces of stone flew out. Ronan made eye contact with Marya and nodded his head.
“Yes you were the strongest. “Use some strength.”
“Huh?”
Ronan threw the war hammer at Marya. Marya who took the hammer looked at Ronan and the hammer in turn. Ronan shouted.
“Fuck it quick. “Shouldn’t I get your money and weapons?”
“Oh I really knew!”
Marja grabbed the handle of the hammer. The mana seeped through the hilt and gathered at the head of the hammer.
She raised her hammer to the top of her head and hit the floor of the elevator. Quaaaang! As soon as a bluish arc was drawn a loud noise rang out.
“Old Man Rice Ball was right. “This is the right one for you.”
The corner of the elevator broke off and a black space appeared. There was complete darkness at my feet not even an ounce of light to be found.
A rush of cool air blew Ronan’s bangs back. Ronan frowned as he smelled a stench like rotting eggs.
“The smell of sulfur….”
“Wow!”
Asher and Marya covered their noses and mouths. It was a much stronger smell than regular sulfur.
Ronan twisted his lips as he thought of several cases. A dwarf digging into the sulfur-smelling underground seething lava.
Judging from the experience I accumulated while wandering the world a good future never came to mind. Ronan said winking at Asher.
“Let’s go Asher.”
“huh? uh? “Huh?”
“Marya. You return to Phileon and inform him of the situation. “Be sure to tell this especially to the prayer room.”
“If it’s a prayer room… that hunting instructor? “Didican’s older brother?”
“okay. You must have a knack for finding people. And at the level of our professors they probably know the identity of the blacksmith. Anyway hurry up.”
“Ro Ronan? “Why are you suddenly grabbing me…”
Ronan grabbed Asher’s hood. Asher feeling a familiar sense of ominousness was about to back away. Ronan stepped on her and jumped straight into her hole.
“Kwaaaaaak!”
“Aaaah!”
Darkness poured over the boys’ heads. Marya’s screams were echoing from above. Sheeta with her eyes wide open folded her wings and descended towards Ronan and Asher.
“Bwaaaaa!”
Sita quickly reached the boys’ side and grabbed Ronan’s back. The four wings spread out and the falling speed slightly decreased. It was the moment when Asher who had barely regained his senses was about to chant his incantation.
“This Invisible…eup!”
“Not yet.”
Ronan covered Asher’s mouth with her palm. Even though he was falling at an incredible speed Ronan’s expression was calm as if he had just gone on a picnic. He said pulling Asher’s hood down.
“You can’t stop now. It almost goes down and stops. okay?”
“Ugh…! Ugh!”
“You have to do it right. If you make a mistake this time I’m not just saying this you’ll all die. “Nod your head if you understand.”
Ronan asked back. Asher barely nodded his head. Tears welled up from the corners of his eyes and scattered into the air. Finally as if the light was shining beneath his feet the sight of Gran Cappadocia unfolded before his eyes. Ronan twisted his lips.
“Fuck you’re late.”
“What is all this?!”
It was a miserable scene. A downpour of huge rocks seemed to have swept through the cavity. The orderly buildings were half destroyed like sand castles that someone had stepped on once.
The lava had overflowed and was cooling down on the road. Most of the dense stalactites and stalagmites were broken. Ronan who smelled the stronger smell of sulfur frowned.
“Let’s get ready quickly.”
“Uh huh!”
A steel support beam was quickly passing by the boys. Asher closed his eyes. A low chant rang out in the roaring wind.
“Slow Zone.”
“what?”
It was the first order I heard. Asher stretched out his hands towards the floor. A geometric magic circle was drawn at the point where the fall was expected and the speed of the fall began to slow significantly.
“Ohh.”
Ronan curled his mouth in admiration. The boys’ bodies which had been gradually slowing down almost stopped about 5 meters from the ground. A familiar spell flowed from Asher’s mouth again.
“Invisible Hand!”
Soon an invisible hand snatched up the slowed down bodies. Asher’s telekinesis brought the two bodies down to the ground quickly and safely.
Ronan stepped on the ground and patted Asher on the back.
“It’s pretty good Asher. “When did you learn something like that again?”
Asher uses magic other than the Invisible Hand. He was very innovative and proud. Asher caught his breath and sighed in relief.
“urg! Ugh! “I’m glad things went well in class this week.”
Fortunately the weight I had to lift was light so I was able to succeed safely. At that time a faint moan was heard nearby.
“Uh…uhhh….”
The boys turned their heads almost simultaneously. The groans were coming from beneath the stalactites scattered about.
Ronan rushed over and pushed the stalactite. A dwarf wearing an apron appeared.
“Whoops whoops!” “Wow…!”
Ronan’s eyes widened as he recognized the dwarf’s face. It was the dwarf who got angry at Didican a while ago saying something about the invisible scroll.
“All my legs… oops.”
Asher nauseated when he saw the leg turned at a bizarre angle. Ronan tapped Sita who was still attached to his back.
“Sita.”
“Pyeol.”
Sita chirped as if responding and used magic on the dwarf. As soon as a small magic circle was drawn in the air the twisted leg returned to its original state.
The dwarf felt the pain subside and opened his eyes wide.
“All…the legs…? Wait a minute you must have come with Didican before…”
“that’s right. Sir I don’t have time so I’ll ask quickly. Simple rock accident Damn angry rock spirit cave giant. Which of the three hit you? Personally I wish it wasn’t the second or third.”
Ronan grabbed him by the shoulders and shook him. The dwarf spoke in a trembling voice.
“It seems like the third time… they suddenly came from deep in the tunnel…”
“I thought it was something like that. “Stay here.”
It seems that while digging a tunnel they touched the cave giant’s dwelling. Because they live really deep underground they are monsters that you rarely encounter but they are a race of dwarves.
It was the car that Ronan was about to step into.
“Hey…wait a minute…!”
The dwarf stood up tremblingly. He continued while holding onto Ronan’s pants.
“Help me too… my colleagues have been kidnapped. Of course the old man was also captured….”
“And old Niimi Doron?”
“That’s right…the stupid old man will be locked up. He said he was going to fight… Didi Khan went to save the kid but he hasn’t come back yet.”
Ronan nervously brushed his bangs. It wasn’t a very pleasant situation.
“How long has it been since the rocks hit?”
“Oh it hasn’t been that long. “A few hours at most.”
“That’s a good thing. “Wait here.”
Ronan nodded his head. Judging by the cave giant’s habits there was still hope for a few hours. They had a habit of taking their kidnapped prey to their home and eating it sparingly.
Tears like chicken droppings were flowing from the eyes of the dwarf wearing an apron.
“Please Boo… Both of them are talented people who shouldn’t go like this… Especially that guy Didican…”
“I will try.”
Ronan placed the dwarf against a rock and looked around. Figuring out the path the cave giants took was not that difficult.
The huge footprints left here and there were all pointing in one direction. The only problem was that groaning sounds were coming from all over the place.
“The plague… Can Asher handle it alone?”
“I’ll try. But it’s so wide that I think I’ll run out of mana.”
“As expected. “Damn I don’t have time.”
Ronan sighed. It was important to save the captured people but it was also impossible to neglect the survivors who could die at any moment.
However the scene was too large to ask Asher to save everyone. If I wielded my telekinetic powers to find an injured person whose whereabouts I didn’t know I would quickly run out of mana.
It would make things a lot easier if we just knew where people are buried. Ronan who made a quick decision spoke bitterly.
“I can’t help it. “He’ll be here soon so try to save him as much as possible.”
“huh.”
Asher nodded his head solemnly. Sita who had been tilting her head all the time climbed up on Asher’s head.
“Sita?”
“Brother.”
Suddenly four wings spread wide. Red eyes shone. Soon red rays of light began to rise from all over the rock pile. Ronan’s eyes widened.
“Bwaaaa!”
“This can’t be right….”
Ronan ran to the nearest beam of light. As the bulging pile of dirt was brushed away a furry face was revealed. The dwarf coughed spitting out dirt and stones.
“Cough! Cough!”
“Hey Sita you bastard….”
Ronan laughed as if he was amazed. Blood was flowing from both of the dwarf’s nostrils. A red ray of light was emerging from there.
The story is different if you say that it is a magic that tracks the location of spilled blood. Ronan looked back at Asher and shouted.
“Use your telekinesis to dig up only the places where Asher’s light rises!”
“Oh okay!”
“Sita please continue this and heal the injured people. “Can you do it?”
“Bye!”
Sita cried with confidence. Asher chanted her spell toward the beams of light. As various pieces of debris rose the shapes of dwarves and humans that had been buried were revealed.
“Are you okay…?”
“Uh…uhh…my arm….”
Sita circled the cave and treated her wounded. Traces of her blood scattered everywhere were falling in the form of drops and being absorbed by Sita.
Instead of following the footsteps straight away Ronan ran to Doron’s forge. It was because of the words left by the dwarf wearing her apron just before she left.
– Wait a minute…! There’s still something left to say….
– What is it? I don’t have time. Doron and Didican may have already come out as poop.
– But I still have to tell you this… After all your weapons are lying in that old man’s workshop.
– Our weapons?”
– okay. I’m sure it will help… It’s been a while since I’ve seen Doron so excited.
If you put it that way there was no reason to refuse. The reason I came here in the first place was to receive weapons.
Ronan was soon able to discover a cube-shaped building. Compared to other buildings that were reduced to rubble it was noticeable that it was healthy in its own way.
‘They’re people who don’t really stick with their swords. ‘That’s good.’
A well-made sword would definitely be of help. There was only 100 meters left until the entrance gate. Kugugu…! Suddenly a pile of rubble right next to it suddenly rose up. A creature that seemed to have been made by attaching various ores to a giant human appeared.
The cave giant rose up shaking off the rubble and roared at Ronan.
“Kaaaa!!”
“Nimi.”
The entire cavity rang loudly. It was a huge creature reaching a height of 5 meters from head to toe. Ronan gritted his teeth at the foul smell of sulfur pouring from his mouth.
“All your friends went to eat so why are you the only one left?”
Instead of answering the giant lifted his right foot high. Ronan tugged at the hilt of his sword. bang! The giant’s foot fell right on the spot where Ronan was.
“Kwok?”
But there was nothing beneath the giant’s feet. Ronan slipped through the giant’s legs and struck the giant’s left ankle in succession. Flutter! Flutter! Flutter! The sound of breaking stones rang out in succession.
“It’s so hard.”
“Kwaaeook!”
The attack worked but his hand whined. In vain the giant swung his arm to catch Ronan. Ronan dodged the giant’s attacks here and there and continued to throw sword strikes at the same spot.
After swinging a total of twenty-five times all the ore that served as armor fell off. Ronan swung his sword at the dark gray flesh that was finally revealed.
Suddenly! It felt like cutting frozen meat and yellow blood spurted out.
“Kaaaaaaak!”
A loud scream erupted again. The giant who lost his balance stumbled and fell.
As soon as the giant’s face hit the floor Ronan plunged his sword deep into the eye socket. I felt the penetrating tip of the sword pierce something soft. Kwak..! The giant let out a deathly scream stopped struggling and fell down.
“Gross bastards.”
It was fortunate that I was used to dealing with big guys. Ronan drew his sword and swung his arm as if he was going to spray. The sword body covered in yellow blood and flesh was already damaged.
There may still be more giants left. Ronan ran to Doron’s Forge as quickly and stealthily as possible.
Fortunately the new giant did not appear until we entered the building. Suddenly a question crossed Ronan’s mind.
‘But do you know what my weapon is and take it?’
Now that I think about it he didn’t hear the most important thing. But thinking about it now didn’t change anything. Ronan took a step inside the blacksmith shop.
The nest made up of weapons was still there. In the center of the nest there was an unlit brazier and a pure white anvil in this division.
“Is that…?”
Ronan’s eyes widened as his eyes fell on the anvil. A sword of a type he had never seen before was lying on the anvil.
Ronan approached the sword as if possessed by something. The hilt was short and had almost no pommel. The long black sword body was so thin that the back was visible.
“This is a sword?”
Ronan instinctively realized that it was his weapon. It was the moment I placed my finger on his blade to check his prediction. A thin cut appeared on my index finger along with a stinging pain.
“Use it!”
It was unbelievably sharp. The blood that flowed down his fingers and landed on the sword body. Instead of dripping or dripping the blood droplets just soaked into the sword body. Ronan’s eyes widened.
“You old rice ball…what on earth did you make?”
