204. Jager (4)
#204
The headquarters of the New Beast Union was located in the Nazun Mountains northwest of Rundalian. This fortress which was built by simply remodeling the remains of the beast-man kingdom that existed in the past may have been cramped and underdeveloped but it was a fortress blessed with the power of water.
Originally it was a place that should have had the strictest security but the members working here all showed signs of chronic negligence. This was due to the belief that their leader Jager could not be defeated by anyone due to their extremely stable surroundings and history of never allowing intrusion.
“What’s the weather like outside…I wonder how fucking long I have to stay like this.”
“It’s probably clear because it doesn’t smell like rain. What can I do? “This is our mission.”
“Does Jager need an escort in the first place? “It’s been a long time since we killed a human so it would be nice to be deployed to the front line as soon as possible.”
This also applies to the sentries guarding the nature where the jaegers reside. The eyes of the two sentries consisting of a werewolf and a werebear remained on the spacious hallway in front of them.
Their task was to look at this scene and chat for 30% of the day. Behind him was the main gate leading to the central area of the main castle where Jager was located.
It was a passage that was so rarely used that it was ridiculous to deploy troops but the order was an order anyway so the two men came here once a day to stand guard. The werewolf who was standing there in rapt attention today as usual yawned and muttered.
“Ugh… Anyway what are you doing that’s why it doesn’t come out like this? “It’s already been five hours.”
“I’m guessing you’re giving advice to Jager as always. “It usually takes this long.”
“He’s a guy I don’t really like. Also I always cover my whole body with a piece of cloth. “It turns out he’s human and that’s it right?”
“I don’t think so. One day when I saw it from afar it was almost as big as Jager. “He is probably our compatriot who inherited the blood of lions and tigers.”
The werebear sentry standing next to him nodded. He guessed that the ‘advisor’ who visited Jager periodically was Were Lion or Were Tiger.
The mysterious guest whose identity no one knows except Jager who has been around since the birth of the New Northern Alliance became quite a source of gossip for the bored guards.
“If I had known this would happen I wouldn’t have shown any signs of fighting. “It was against my nature for no reason.”
“Hehe be proud. “It means that we are capable in some way.”
The two were killing time by chatting about various things. A werebear sentry suddenly sensed the presence and grabbed his spear.
“Wait someone is coming.”
“what?”
The werewolf tilted his head. As I listened I could really feel the footsteps getting closer. And not just one person but several people. Soon the two people’s eyes widened as they saw a large werebear walking out from around the corner of the hallway.
“Umkano Centurion…?!”
“Oh my god are you still alive?”
The sentries stuttered unable to contain their confusion. The centurion who was thought to be dead was walking right in front of me. I heard he was killed in the Rundalian raid three days ago. Umcano answered briefly.
“…okay.”
Umcano slowly approached and stopped in front of the two. The two sentries were still unable to close their gaping mouths. The werewolf who had barely regained his composure spoke in a trembling voice.
“Excuse me but can I ask you the circumstances? “I heard that the raiding party that went to Rundalian was wiped out…”
“…They took advantage of the moment they were off guard and ran away. It’s okay to survive. “I am alone.”
“That’s right. I’m so glad. “No you are amazing.”
As expected seeing Umcano for the first time in three days he looked very tired and tired. His fur was dull his eyes were glassy and he looked like he was going to collapse at any moment. His speech which was always full of energy had somehow become slurred.
“Huh?”
At that time the two guards caught the eye of the rope held in Umcano’s hand. Judging by its thickness it was not something that beastmen used. The sentries moved their gaze along the rope and took a short breath.
“This human?”
“…What are they?”
“These are the prisoners I captured.”
Umcano answered in a husky voice. Two humans a man and a woman were tied tightly to the rope behind him their heads bowed. They both had black hair and were wearing clothes that looked very expensive and nice even to the eyes of a prisoner ignorant of human culture. Umkano continued.
“They are both children of noble families… they would be valuable as prisoners of war.”
“I see. “It is truly amazing that you even took prisoners in the meantime.”
The two sentries looked at the human man and woman with sympathetic eyes. They were unlucky enough to be caught by Umcano who was known to be the greatest misanthrope.
At that time the young man raised his head and the werewolf sentry’s eyes met. The werewolf shrugged his shoulders with a fierce look reminiscent of a bird of prey.
“What are you looking at?”
“….”
It was not the look in the eyes of a prisoner. His eyes as red as the sunset were burning as if they could burst into flame at any moment. The boy didn’t say anything and just glared at him.
“this…!”
When I thought of being pushed out by a human or something I suddenly became angry. It was the moment when the werewolf lifted his arm without realizing it. Sigh! Umcano’s hand flew like lightning and grabbed his wrist.
“Don’t touch it.”
“Kwaaagh! Sorry! “The look in your eyes was so cocky that I couldn’t help but stop…!”
The werewolf sentry let out a scream. It was such a force that it seemed as if his bones would be crushed. Um Kano slowly removed his hand and warned in a stern tone.
“You must not touch the prisoners…kill them. “Isn’t that so?”
“That’s right…Ugh…I’m sorry.”
The werewolf sentry bowed his head. As expected the warrior who came back alive alone from the enemy camp had a different grip strength. Suddenly the werebear standing next to him tilted his head.
“Well…didn’t you say something just now Captain?”
“What do you mean?”
“I just asked you to kill me…uh no. “I think I heard wrong.”
The were bear sentry who had been dragging his horse for a moment shook his head. Common sense tells us that there was no way Umcano would suddenly say something like that. Umm Kano turned his gaze to the gate and opened his mouth.
“Jager…is he inside?”
“yes. Yes. However today is the day the advisor is coming so I think I will have to wait a little before going in.”
“…Advisor?”
“yes. You come here every week. “The interview will probably be over in about two hours today.”
Umm Kano shut his mouth. This was also information I had heard for the first time. After being silent for a moment he nodded.
“…okay. I’ll just wait and go in. Now get out of the way…kill me.”
“yes?”
Werebear’s eyes widened. This time he heard clearly. He must kill me he said. The werewolf sentry who heard them frowned.
“…Are you okay Captain Centurion?”
“okay. It’s okay…I’m going to kill you quickly.”
Suddenly Umcano’s face began to twitch uncontrollably. The two sentries were frightened and backed away at the bizarre sight. At that time the man and woman who were her captives quickly exchanged glances. The young man looked up at Umkano and sighed.
“Hehe… I don’t think that’s going to work anymore right?”
“huh. Sorry.”
The woman shook her head. The two sentries’ eyes widened. The werewolf sensing something was wrong was about to place his hand to the hilt of his sword. The figure of the captive young man disappeared from sight.
“What?!”
He couldn’t capture it even with the beast’s body sight. Only the rope that bound the young man remained strewn about on the floor. Only the human woman remained looking at him with pity.
“What the fuck!”
The werewolf shouted aiming her polearm at her woman. Ouch – suddenly something like warm liquid wet his cheek. What is this again? The werewolf’s eyes widened as he reflexively looked next to him. The head of the werebear that had been standing guard had disappeared.
“Huh oh oh!”
A fountain of his blood was gushing from the neat cross section. The liquid that soaked half of his face was his comrade’s blood. The severed head of a bear was lying at his feet. thud…! His headless body and Umm Khano fell to the floor at the same time.
“Do do what on earth is this?”
“fizzle. “If you don’t want to be the same stay quiet.”
The werewolf who was about to shout took a vain breath. An eerie whisper came from right behind me. I wanted to turn his head but I couldn’t because something was holding my back. The sharp cool metal presumed to be a knife was pressing exactly at the point that was in a straight line with the heart. Ronan holding her back opened her mouth.
“It’s a shame. “I thought he could go without getting stuck even once.”
“Sorry. “I wish I had done a little better.”
“no. It penetrated deep enough. “Don’t you think it will be soon?”
“It seems like that.”
Ade Shan shook his head and untied the ropes that bound his body. Initially it did not take any effort to untie the rope which was tied in a special way. Ronan stuck out his head and pointed at Umm Kano with the tip of his chin.
“You can’t use that bear anymore right? “If I see you even asking me to kill you.”
“Yeah…I think my mental strength has reached its limit. “Pity.”
“Then let’s just do it with this guy. “It’s a sentry that protects the nature anyway so you should be able to get to Jager’s door without difficulty.”
“Shall we do that?…”
Adeshan looked at the werewolf blankly. The eyes shining the color of ash were creepy. Even if something was wrong it was definitely going wrong. Sensing something sinister against his instincts he raised his claws and shouted.
“Whoa! Oh don’t come!”
“sorry.”
Adeshan said calmly. Despite her ferocious threats she was slowly approaching the werewolf.
“I mean don’t come! “Aaaah!”
Now the knife behind her didn’t matter. It was a car where a werewolf unable to bear the anxiety was about to rush into the situation. Suddenly something like a black mist billowed over Ade Shan’s shoulders. Were Wolf’s eyes widened at the strange and eerie aura she had never seen before.
“What is that…huh!”
At the same time the werewolf sentry stopped moving. My limbs felt paralyzed and I was speechless. He felt the foreign energy he had seen a moment ago seeping into his body. He took a deep breath and Adeshan opened his mouth.
“Sorry.”
“Hmm… 100 million.”
The werewolf’s twitching head dropped. Ronan lowered the sword aimed at his back. The werewolf who was unconscious while standing raised his head only after about a minute. Crash. He opened the door without a word and muttered in a soulless voice.
“…There is no abnormality while on guard.”
Ronan breathed a sigh of relief. The werewolf’s eyes were colored a dull gray color. He clicked his tongue at the sight of the sentry becoming a puppet.
‘Your abilities are being awakened in earnest. I’m getting a little scared now.’
Adeshan succeeded in taking control of a person’s mind for the first time the other night. Considering that it took her a full day to take control of Umm Khano’s mind the speed at which she grew was literally unreal.
Although she said that the fewer objects that can control her mind the easier it is to control it this was already far beyond Ronan’s expectations. Ronan who was looking at the side of her face opened her mouth.
“I’m glad that my senior is a good person.”
“Huh? Why all of a sudden?”
“Just like that. “You just stopped that bastard from hitting me.”
It was Adeshan who controlled Umcano and grabbed the werewolf’s wrist a little while ago. Ronan was truly glad that she was not a villain. She played with Ade Shan’s hair as if she was embarrassed.
“Ahaha it was just something I had to do.”
“Thank you. Please stay like that.”
Her voice was serious. Ade Shan’s face turned slightly red at her somewhat meaningful-sounding words. After being silent for a moment she answered with a friendly smile on her face.
“huh. “I will.”
The two people quickly disposed of the corpse and blood stains and tied ropes around each other’s bodies again. Then he handed one end of the rope to the werewolf guard. A soulless voice flowed from the mouth of the werewolf whose mind had been taken over.
“…Then let’s go you prisoners.”
****
After that things proceeded like water. Ronan disguised as a prisoner and the werewolf sentry possessed by Adeshan’s mind proceeded towards the heart of the castle without stopping. Unlike his outer castle which was swarming with enemies the troops deployed to the main castle were surprisingly small.
‘That’s a good thing.’
I don’t know if it was because I let my guard down but it was truly fortunate. No matter how good the sacred sword Lamancha was the beastmen were difficult opponents. The beastmen we occasionally encountered on the way were interested in Ronan and Adeshan but most of them stayed out of the way when they heard that they were prisoners who were going to present the truth to Jager.
“Don’t touch me like you want man. “Are you going to take responsibility?”
“okay. “What are you so angry about?”
The werewolf sentry’s conversation was also becoming noticeably smoother compared to Umcano. Anyway the things blocking the two people’s path were things they could easily avoid or get rid of so they kept moving.
Ronan and Adeshan who had been walking along the hallway stairs and bridge between buildings had already reached the center of the main castle. I don’t know if it was because there were still guests who were advisors or something but I couldn’t really find anyone around me anymore. Ronan turned a corner and laughed.
“at las.”
He could instinctively know that he had arrived at his destination. A wide hallway stretched out before his eyes as if twenty of his horses could pass through it. At the end of the hallway was a huge gate that looked like it was where the captain lived. Ronan said turning to Adeshan.
“Thank you for your hard work senior.”
The three-hour situational drama that felt like three days came to an end. Now I had to attack quickly and take Jager’s hand. Ronan was trying to say that it was okay to release the werewolf’s hold on the mind. Adeshan who had been silent all along opened his mouth quietly.
“…lie.”
“What’s wrong?”
Ronan raised his eyebrows at the inexplicable reaction. Adeshan’s face was pale. She lifted her trembling hand and pointed to her front door.
“Over there…there’s Jaifa.”
