191. Where the sky becomes thin (2)
#191
The monster’s body cut in two fell to the ground. Purple-colored blood poured down like rain. Ronan turned his sword around and looked up at Bni Hardo and said.
“Compared to what you’re talking about your movements are slow. “What does protecting mean?”
“…how?”
Bni Hardo who had been frozen for a while opened his mouth. By the time she noticed her monster’s presence it was already too late. I was prepared for her to be seriously injured but I never thought she would receive help from humans.
“Well…I came because I wanted to know that too.”
“It’s impossible.”
“If it were truly impossible you would have been cut off to death. But can I just leave that alone?”
Ronan lifted the tip of her chin and pointed somewhere. This was the direction from which the monster flew. The eyes of the dragon and elf who turned their heads to follow him widened. There was a crack in one corner of the shield big enough for two horses to pass through.
“Oh my god the crack…!”
“I need to stop that first.”
Monsters that had not escaped the fire or died were flocking towards the crack. Even though the size was not the right size the sight of the body being torn or crushed and the head pushed in was extremely bizarre. bang! Bnihardo’s wings spread out like an explosion. She let out her breath as she reached the front of her crack with just one flap of her wings.
【How dare you little creatures…! Disappear!】
-Kyaaaaa!
Flames poured out. The monsters that were swept away were reduced to ash and oxidized. In terms of scale alone it was one step above Navardose. Ronan frowned at her as a swarm of light enveloped her.
‘No kidding.’
The ever-widening flames were reminiscent of a stream of water pouring out from a collapsed embankment. However like the conversation she had with Iraniel the temperature seemed to be inferior compared to Navardose’s fire. As if to disprove him several large animals were holding on despite being hit by fire. For the first time Ronan was able to confirm the existence of the ‘protective shield’ that Iraniel had mentioned.
‘Is that it? ‘Similar yet different.’
Ronan’s eyes narrowed. A translucent resin-like film covered the monsters’ bodies. The area and scale of the protective shield were different for each individual.
Although it was far less than the protection of the stars its durability still seemed quite usable. Bnihardo’s fire could only burn the flesh beyond it after completely melting the shield.
Clap. Several monsters that had somehow managed to break through the fire fell to the ground. Bnihardo couldn’t pay attention because he had to focus on the enemies outside the rift. Before long the fleshy lumps that had risen were rushing towards me extending their tentacles.
-Kihyaaa!!
“As expected we don’t have enough firepower.”
Iraniel muttered bitterly and closed his eyes. With a low chanting sound a geometric magic circle appeared above the monsters’ heads and below their feet. Perfect! That was the moment he snapped his fingers. The ice blade that tore through the magic circle and pierced the monsters.
-Kyaaaa! Kyaaaaaah!
-Click!
The monsters that were pierced from above and below screamed. A chill that chilled my bones spread out. Ronan whistled at the powerful magic that exceeded expectations.
“It’s pretty good.”
It was not enough to become a magic tower lord or a top mage. To be honest I thought they were both braggarts but they seemed to have the skills to despise humans.
However despite the onslaught of fire and ice the monsters that entered the tent were still alive and moving. Should I say that it cannot deliver the final blow? Ronan became frustrated and grabbed the hilt of his sword.
“Will you catch me like that?”
My core began to pulse rapidly. La Mancha’s blade became bright red reminiscent of blood. Kwajangchang! At that moment the monster that had broken through the ice bondage was rushing towards Iraniel. Ronan who was blocking his path swung his arm. The red tail along the sword path passed by as if grazing the monster.
-Gruk?
The monster noticed something strange and stopped. At the same time several red lines were drawn over the octopus-like body. Pow! The monster’s body cut along the line collapsed. Ronan covered in sticky bodily fluids grumbled in an irritated voice.
“Oh that’s disgusting.”
“What the hell are you…”
Iraniel muttered in confusion. It wasn’t a mistake. The protective shield that halved even Bnihardo’s fire was torn apart like a piece of paper. Instead of answering Ronan ran towards the other monsters that were still alive. Wow! Blood poured out wherever his sword strikes were applied.
****
“Are you okay with Bnihar?”
“okay. “My throat is a little sore though.”
The situation was soon resolved. After killing all the monsters inside and outside the shield Bnihardo and Iraniel installed a temporary barrier over the newly formed crack.
Although it wasn’t perfect it was a barrier strong enough to oxidize quite a few monsters just by touching it. Irani El who was catching his breath opened his mouth.
“Whew I want to quickly change shift and go in to rest. By the way…”
He turned his head. Ronan was walking among the corpses of monsters killing those that were still alive.
“You look like shit.”
Ronan frowned as he wiped the fluid from his face. Beneath his feet a mass of tentacles resembling eyes attached to a sea anemone was wriggling.
He plunged the knife into the monster’s needlessly flashing eyes. Deep. A stinging sensation like a rotting drowned body passed through his fingertips.
-Kbereuk.
The body that had convulsed for a moment went limp. Ronan said kicking the monster’s head.
“This is dead right?”
“…I guess so.”
“How do you dispose of the body? “It also smells bad.”
“You can just leave it alone. “Because there is a separate person in charge of handling the aftercare.”
Iraniel said. The way he looked at Ronan was quite different from before the battle. Perfect! When he snapped his fingers the blood on Ronan’s body completely vaporized and disappeared.
“Oh did you know you could do something like this?”
“It’s a simple magic. Come to think of it we didn’t even share names. My name is Iraniel Remation. “What about that one?”
“Ronan.”
“Yes Ronan. Does he know what he has done?”
Iraniel’s expression was serious. Ronan tilted his head. What are you asking when you clearly saw it?
“You cut down the monster babies and killed them.”
“That’s right. I killed the monster. The problem is that the creatures you slaughter are completely different from ordinary monsters. I clearly see your blade ignoring the shield.”
“So what do you want me to do?”
“I want to know the secret. How is that possible? “I’ve been studying those terrible seeds for nearly a hundred years but this is really…!”
Iraniel suddenly approached and held Ronan’s hand tightly. His eyebrows suddenly twisted.
“Aren’t you going to let go of this?”
“iced coffee. Ronan please let me study you. “We will treat you with the best treatment!”
“If you don’t let go until the count of three I’ll hit you. one. two….”
“Don’t do that you are the key to ending this damn fight…Kuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu be Korean characters being the key to ending this tedious fight… keuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuy be my key to ending this tedious fight…huuuuuuuuck!”
Ronan counted to three exactly and planted his fist in Iraniel’s face. Perhaps because of the large size difference even if I hit him gently he flew a fairly long distance. Wadangtang! The man who was lying on the floor got up with a dark smile.
“Hehe hehe… I knew this would happen and I was putting up a shield. “Your fists have no destructive effect.”
“Aren’t you crazy?”
Ronan cursed. For some reason I thought I couldn’t feel the touch but it seemed like it hit the defense shield. Should I tear it up and beat it up first? Ronan who was thinking about this and that slowly brought his hand to the hilt of his sword. A familiar voice came from behind.
“Everyone worked hard.”
“Master Navardose?”
The two people turned their heads at the same time. Navardose came home from work and stood with his back to me. Before I knew it on the other side of the resealed shield there was a pile of unrecognizable ashes. It really seemed like a lot of everything had been burned. Bni Hardo bowed his head.
“mother.”
“A new crack has appeared. “I couldn’t pay attention because I had to drive it to a place a little far away.”
“Temporary measures have been completed. However I am worried that such incidents are increasing these days. “Because the sky is getting thinner.”
“I feel it too. I don’t know how long the shield will last but I’ll do my best. “Thank you both for protecting my guests.”
Navarre who encouraged Iraniel gently stroked his daughter’s head. She looked back and forth between Ronan and her mother then opened her mouth with a mumble.
“…It’s a shame but it’s the opposite.”
“hmm? “What does that mean?”
“Rather this mortal saved me. “I hate to admit it but… it was pretty good.”
Ronan shrugged his eyebrows. I thought it would come out shamelessly but this was something unexpected. Is it because I have good blood that I have a conscience? Beni Hardo who had been drooling tilted his head.
“But mom there’s something strange.”
“Are you saying it’s strange?”
“I think I saw this human… somewhere. When I was very young. “I’m not sure but…”
Her eyes were fixed on Ronan. Her dragon-like glowing eyes were burdensome. It seemed like similar things were happening one after another. Navarro I nodded her head.
“You saw it right. “Because this child is ■■’s son.”
“yes? ■■ Then he built this fortress….”
“okay. Or he is a distant descendant. “That’s the only way to explain it.”
Bnihardo’s eyes grew so big that they almost seemed to pop out. She was alone and Ronan was furious as he couldn’t hear her name. Suddenly Navardose turned to him and said:
“Follow me. As promised I will tell you everything I know.”
“Are they not attacking us anymore?”
“As I said I burned more than usual so it should be okay for a few hours. “Let’s go.”
Ronan returned with her to her stronghold. There were more people than when I just arrived. Dragon Elf Vampire… Those who showed respect to Navardose and looked at Ronan curiously were all a race that lived an immortal life.
“This smell of blood…? “Is that really a human being?”
“You always have a lot of trouble. “O flame of the beginning.”
“Everyone be careful. “I was just playing around and got scolded.”
The interior of the fortress looked simple but there were many secretly hidden side paths. Navardose chose only those suspicious passages and walked on them.
Although she didn’t tell him where she was going Ronan followed her in silence. I was in the middle of walking down a narrow spiral staircase for about five minutes. Ronan unable to contain her curiosity opened her mouth.
“By any chance what exactly happened to your father’s impression?”
“No need to say much he looked exactly like you. “All I had to do was dye my hair white.”
“Aha…damn.”
Ronan twisted his lips. The only person he knew who looked like him was the robber. The bastard said no but my father was… The more I learned about the secret of his birth the more vague and ambiguous the conclusion became.
‘But isn’t that bastard the leader of Nebula Clazie now? Why did you come to Navardose? ‘What’s the benefit of telling you to stop those monsters?’
His head felt dizzy. I couldn’t bring myself to unravel the tangled thread. The stairs ended after going down for about ten more minutes.
“We have arrived. “It’s been hundreds of years since we’ve been here.”
“Where is…?”
Ronan raised his head. A large door was blocking the two people’s path. Navardose said shaking off the dust covering the door.
“This is the room where ██ stayed. I devoted myself to research here in this solitary confinement with Elthea for three years. “After that he came to visit me often but he never stopped by here.”
“yes? “Who?”
Ronan’s eyes widened. A name that was clearly familiar to her passed by her ears. Navardose shrugged his eyebrows.
“hmm? “They said it was ■■ and Elsia.”
“…Was that person named Elthea an elf with bright red eyes? “The ears are extremely long.”
“okay. “How do you know that?”
Ronan’s eyes widened. If she remembered correctly Elsia was definitely someone she knew.
Red-eyed high elf. One of the founders of Nebula Clage who dealt with the wind spirit Hyran. Ronan remembered the days when he possessed her savior and rebuilt her and her village. Seeing Ronan suddenly stiffen Navarro tilted his head.
“Well let’s go in first and talk about the rest.”
She gripped her doorknob. The lock was released with a clicking sound. Despite hundreds of years of neglect the huge door opened smoothly like a flowing stream.
