238. Dragon King (3)
#238
“What on earth are these bastards doing in the tower?”
Ronan frowned. The pulsating presence was something that could not be ignored. Even though the source was far away it felt as vivid as if it were right in front of me.
‘Are the dragons having an orgy?’
It was unusual. The sparkling mana in the air signaled the seriousness of the incident. This unique phenomenon which only Ronan could see was proof that Nebula Clazier was here.
‘I’m sure. It’s in this tower.’
I didn’t expect to get physical evidence like this. He didn’t know what he was doing in the tower but he had to gather data before the job was over. Ronan got up from the bed and opened his mouth.
“good. “Let’s leave right away.”
“Ugh. “But there is a problem.”
“problem?”
Ronan tilted his head. Asher stretched out his hand and pointed to a door in a corner of the room. The magic door that brought them from the drawing room to the throne room and from the throne room to this bedroom was firmly closed.
“That door over there is the only entrance. “There was no other place.”
“so?”
“There are dozens of security spells on the door. Oh maybe he expected us to leave halfway.”
Asher stuttered. Ronan’s brow furrowed. When I looked closely I could clearly feel that foreign mana remained inside the doorknob.
“Can’t I just cut it down?”
“Then it should disappear but there is a possibility that the function of the ‘door’ will also be lost. An alarm may sound. Originally these magic tools were very complicated in design…”
Asher blurted her words. She didn’t expect to run into trouble so quickly. If you think about it no matter how you opened the door there was a high risk of being caught.
If these measures were taken it wouldn’t be surprising if there were guards waiting in front of the door. Asher continued.
“Ha I might be able to decipher the magic in about an hour. Should we at least try that?”
“Then it’s too late. “What kind of method…”
Ronan sighed. She had to figure out something different. As he slowly looked around the room his eyes stopped on a certain place.
Gorgeous curtains covered the entire western wall. Suddenly a ray of wind passed through Ronan’s head.
“uh?”
“Why are you doing this?”
“Wait. no way….”
The room was dark when I entered so I overlooked it for a while. Ronan slowly approached the wall and pulled the curtain.
Whoa! Calm moonlight poured into the room. A bright full moon was rising beyond the high arched window. The corners of Ronan’s mouth quirked up.
“You should have looked properly. “There is an entrance right here.”
“No way….”
Asher’s face turned pale. I felt like I knew what was going to happen next. Ronan approached him with a grin and placed his hand on his shoulder.
“Do you remember how we got into Adren?”
****
“Has Your Majesty not come down yet?”
“okay. It’s already been a month since this. “What are you doing at the top every night?”
“This time too humans dressed in white clothes were with us.”
The sounds of the sentries talking rang out under the moonlight. Their mission was to guard the stairs on the 73rd floor of Sky Tower. It could be said to be a fairly important mission because one had to pass through this in order to go upstairs or downstairs.
Of course even a sense of duty could not erase the unique boredom of guard duty. A sentry with a scar on his cheek grumbled.
“To be honest I don’t like those people. It’s suspicious. “What if I do something to your Majesty?”
【What do you not like so much?】
He was about to say something. Suddenly a familiar woman’s voice rang out from down the stairs. The sentries were startled and stood at attention. Step by step. Step by step. Soon a woman came up the stairs and stopped in front of them.
【Tell me.】
“I am Naransonia. “That’s not it…”
The frightened sentry stammered. The moonlight seeped through her window and illuminated her beautiful face.
I never thought she would fall for me Sonia. Nicknamed the Empress of Steel she was notorious for being the most loyal and strict among the Dragon King’s beasts.
【Our mission is simply to follow His Majesty’s will. Was I wrong?】
“no. “I said something presumptuous.”
So the sentry obediently bowed his head. He knew several dragons and servants who insulted the Dragon King and were skewered by Naransonia. Fortunately no additional reprimands were received. She quietly looked at her stairs and then stepped in front of her.
【Move aside for a moment.】
“What…”
Sentries stood aside on both sides. Sonia stretched out her hand. Kagagak! Huge steel spikes erupted from the floor and ceiling completely blocking the stairs leading to the lower floor.
It wasn’t that difficult to realize that it was a security measure. One of the sentries asked in confusion.
“There is no need to go this far…”
【I have to be sure. We will remove it as soon as His Majesty’s ceremony is over so get back to work. I think it would be good to patrol somewhere other than here.】
It was I Sonia who left those words and went upstairs to her. Kagagak! At the same time steel thorns grew on the stairs leading upwards.
“…Let’s go on patrol.”
“huh.”
The sentries who had been shaking a little took a step forward. The sound of footsteps slowly faded away. It was about time they became invisible from the window. Ronan stuck his tongue out at her as if he was tired of it.
“What a terrible bitch. “If I tried to climb from the inside I would have been screwed.”
“Yeah… that’s right.”
Asher nodded her head. Schlieffen expressed her unspoken affirmation by saying nothing.
They watched the conversation between Naransonia and the guards from beginning to end. Outside the window not inside. Perhaps because it was far away from the city even small voices could be heard easily.
“good. Now let’s go up again. “Never look down.”
“Ugh. “Oh okay.”
Asher nodded her head. Whiiing! The cool night wind was ruffling their hair. As Asher gestured the three bodies began to rise again.
They escaped from the bedroom through the window. It was an idea inspired by the situation when entering Adren.
Unlike the sealed door there was no security spell on it. Actually I would never have imagined escaping from such a height.
The invisibility magic that Asher had learned last night was covering their bodies. So the three of them could not see each other even though their shoulders were touching. Ronan was amazed at the incredible performance he had acquired in such a short period of time.
“No matter how many times I see it it’s still amazing. “How long did you say it took you to learn this?”
“About two to two hours.”
“It would be nice if the poop was thick.”
Ronan shook her head. She had forgotten for a moment that one should not try to understand genius with common sense. He was massaging Asher’s shoulder as if he was amazed and then asked a question.
“right. “Aren’t you short on mana?”
“Oh it’s still okay. “I still have the potion that Marya gave me.”
“Be alert. “If you make a mistake we will all die.”
Ronan pleaded. Asher swallowed thickly and nodded at her.
I was sorry that it seemed like I was craving it but it was an environment that had no choice but to put a burden on me. If Asher’s concentration was broken or her mana was depleted it was all over. Ronan who glanced down at her feet added her words.
“That is also very terrible….”
Adren had already become so small that he could be seen at a glance. Outside the city limits a vast sea of clouds spread out. Judging by the height the body would have been left as a red stain and engraved on Adren rather than being recovered.
Still except for Asher’s mental and physical weakness there was nothing that could pose a threat. They had been ascending for about twenty minutes more. Schlieffen who was looking up opened her mouth.
“…That’s unpleasant.”
“Are you like that too?”
Ronan agreed. The closer she got to the top the more concentrated her mana became. Her ominous presence which I vaguely felt in her bedroom was clearly growing stronger.
The same was true for her sparkling mana. The light became stronger and stronger until it hurt her eyes. Is this what it feels like to enter the Milky Way? At that time the tower that rose like a wall broke and the summit appeared before my eyes. Ronan’s eyes widened.
‘…Holy shit.’
He froze. Although I couldn’t see the other two people they were definitely reacting the same way. It was an inevitable scene.
The open top of the cylinder was wide enough to rival the great plaza of Phileon. In the center the Dragon King Ajidahaka sat looking up at the sky.
The fully exposed body of the two-headed dragon was so large and massive that it was surprising that the tower could support its weight. Ronan who was looking around gritted his teeth.
‘Those bastards.’
About twenty people dressed in white robes were gathered. Ronan’s hand holding the sword hilt gained strength.
The undeniable energy of Nebula Clage was radiating from them. Although there were only a few people it was unusual to see them all competing together. Ronan who was looking at their faces twisted his lips.
‘Why did they come rushing in like that?’
There were five people with white hair and scarlet eyes and three people wearing star-shaped badges on their sleeves. The former is Lycoforce an assassination unit directly under the cult leader. The latter were bishops and they were all powerful men who belonged to the highest rank in the religious order.
‘Could it be that the cult leader came too?’
I looked to see if anything but I couldn’t see Abel. Of course just by looking at the current number of people it was clear that this was not an ordinary incident.
‘What on earth are you doing?’
I felt like I needed to look a little closer. Ronan and the others approached them while keeping their presence as low as possible.
The Dragon King’s posture was reminiscent of a wolf looking at the moon. The two heads raised upright looked like they were waiting for something.
At his feet a magic circle was drawn so large that it could completely contain his large body. Blinking at slow intervals seemed like a living creature breathing. The sparkling mana that covered the entire tower was oozing out from there.
‘uh?’
Ronan suddenly caught sight of the Dragon King’s body and raised his eyebrows. A lump of flesh was growing next to the left hair branch.
“That’s….”
The rising lump of flesh was covered with scales like the other neck of the Dragon King. However instead of being golden the scales were bluish white like starlight.
The three people were staring at the bizarre yet mysterious scene in fascination. The Dragon King who was looking at the night sky opened his mouth.
【It’s always amazing. The feeling of strength rising-】
【I can feel it.】
【The one who gives me this power-】
【Who is it?】
Asher shrugged her shoulders at the still magnificent voice. Fortunately my concentration was not broken. A bishop waiting next to him opened his mouth.
“As I said last time it is the power of a great star.”
【okay. Even though I heard it I couldn’t believe it. Such a mighty power-】
【I never thought it existed.】
“Haha… the world we live in is nothing but dust from a macro perspective. “We are borrowing power from the distant heavens above.”
Ronan narrowed his eyes when he heard the word star. The faces of bald giants flashed through my mind. What does this ritual have to do with it? The Dragon King continued.
【Then when will this ceremony be held-】
【Is it over?】
“Now it’s two days at most. I’m looking forward to the moment when the third head is completed. I can guarantee you that you will be no match for Navardose.”
The bishop bowed his head in respect and stepped back. The Dragon King let out a hint of laughter as if those words weren’t bad to hear. Ajidahaka’s wings slowly unfolded.
【I can’t wait. My era-】
【What is coming.】
The golden wings were so wide and long that the ends could not be seen. The scales imbued with the light of the night sky were scattering mysterious colors. The Dragon King’s voice echoed in the sky above Adren.
【Forward until war-】
【Two days.】
