Henry and Chandler were in his way and Leon was charging at him from behind which meant that all ways of escaping had been blocked and escape was impossible.

He knew that it was unlikely for him to get away so he gave up entirely deciding to kill Henry and Chandler before his demise.
The Scarlet Thief resented Leon the most out of the trio but Leon was far too strong and he could not even break through Leon’s defense so it would be impossible for him to injure Leon. Hence he could only vent his anger on Henry and Chandler instead.
Following a deafening sound the Scarlet Thief’s Fiery Serpent clashed with the energies released by Henry and Chandler.
Henry and Chandler were powerless before the attack and flew into the distance.
Thankfully the Scarlet Thief was severely injured and his attack was no longer as powerful. Thus it only managed to send the two flying without actually causing any severe damage to them.

Henry reacted swiftly and got up to back away narrowly escaping the Scarlet Thief’s attack.
Chandler on the other hand was not as lucky.
Due to his handicapped leg the Scarlet Thief’s attack was already right in front of his eyes by the time he managed to get up with the help of his crutch.
